Quiet or Fast??????

Quick question for everyone......what would you rather have with you in the stand, a very quiet shooting bow or a very fast shooting bow? Obviously we would all want the best of both worlds, but that isn't always the case. Reason for asking is I was shooting bow with a buddy and his bow was faster than mine, but mine sounded like it had a silencer on it compared to his. Which got us talking about it. Certainly first and foremost is being comfortable with the bow and able to make the good shot. My bow is shooting about 270fps and his is right around 300fps. Personally........I will take the quiet, so if I miss the big daddy, he might let me have a second shot!! wink

Stand to the front of and to the side of (obviously in a safe place for all the know it alls out there) someone Target practicing and you will notice that the arrow makes as much noise cutting through the air, as the bow makes releasing the arrow. the bow dosen't sound nearly as loud as it does next to your ear shooting it.

I shoot all my bows through a chrony, so I know how fast all of them are! However, when you're pushing 450+ grains through your bow, it's never all that fast... The good news is that with today's technology, you can shoot a reasonably heavy arrow pretty darn fast and still be very quiet. So the truth is, you really don't have to choose one or the other.

My '07 Commander was still the quietest bow I've ever owned. I shot it great and it was whisper quiet. Not coincidentally, it's still my favorite bow I've ever owned.
