Bryant McKinney cut by Vikings

SkunkedAgain

Recommended Posts

Chalk it up to another failed draft pick by the Vikings. One in a long list of many.

This team is completely clueless.

At least McKinney lasted 10 seasons. How many seasons did Tony Mandrich last as a starter for the Packers? Wasn't he like the 1st or 2nd overall pick?

And how can they say that the Vikings will accept the "downgrade" to Charlie Johnson replacing McKinney. If this guys was good enough to protect Peyton Manning's blindside, I would consider him to be a pretty good LT. I don't know for sure, but am willing to say that the Colts have to be in the top two or three for number of pass attempts. TO me, it seems that going from McKinney to Johnson is nothing but an UPGRADE!!

Nope, not the Vikings

Yes, but the Vikings were on the good side

Fumbles in one game? Nope not the Vikings either!

Doesnt look like we gave up the most amount of sacks either

It is beginning to look like maybe the Vikings dont have all of these bad records like someone thinks!

I know there are a few memorable moments from the past, in which all teams have them. But to say this

Quote:
Ever notice when watching highlights from years gone by the Vikings are always on the bad side of the highlight?

Or if someone is breaking records the Vikings are on the wrong side, allowing that player/team to get the record?

Or if there is a program about NFL follies the Vikings are featured the most?

It's hilarious watching the NFL Network when they have those types of shows on. Yep, there's the Vikings...and again...and again.

Or if they are showing some player breaking a record, guess who's chasing him down the field? A bunch of bafoons in purple and white. Never fails.

I think isnt even near be correct. And the poster is obviously just a troll!

Just watch NFL Network, ESPN, you name it. Sooner than later you'll notice the Vikings looking like the Keystone Cops in more replays than you may have originally thought. It's quite entertaining! I bet you could almost make a drinking game out of how many times you see the Vikings looking like a fool with their pants on the ground.

Another one that I always love is that when a team has a horrible losing streak the Vikings seem to be the one to end it for them. grin

I think any local market team will stick out to you more, and be talked about more. Although I will agree there has been some low lights that came from the Vikings, and I will agree, sometimes the national media will pick on Mn teams.

I don't know how you can say McKinnie was a bad pick. The last few years he just hasn't cared, and that's a coaching problem. In terms of talent: McKinnie didn't give up a single sack in his life going into the NFL draft. Saying he wasn't first round worthy is silly. He was a beast early on in his career. But money has got to his head: time to move on. What the Vikings need is an O-Line that can open some holes for Peterson up again. Coming from the Colts Johnson specializes in pass blocking, but hopefully he can help on the running game too. All that time under Manning probably will help him cue in on blocking schemes for any given play.

Never giving up a sack in NCAA was impressive but once he had to deal with NFL speed it was all over for him......SLOW! I wish Jerid Allen would just be honest and say it..the reason he liked playing against him was because he was so easy. Now being 50lbs overweight I wonder if he could even get out of his 3 pt. stance. Adios Good-bye, should have happened last year IMO.

10 years as the cornerstone at left tackle a bust...I think not. Rarely missed a game during that time period. At times, as dominant as anyone in the league...the past few years a steady decline in both physical ability and desire to play the game.

His release was a good thing, he desrved it...to call him a "busted" draft pick is as hilarious as you calling Percy the same thing.

The average career for a player in the NFL is just over 3 years...McKinnie was a darn good football player for the Purple for a long time. If every team could get 10 years service out of a #1 draft pick they would have to be more than happy. Like him, hate him...doesn't matter...he gave the Vikes some very good years at left tackle.

You must not follow this forum much then...LMIT is a troll who spews out anti-Viking/anti-Minnesota at every chance he gets. I've never understood how someone can get soo much enjoyment out of being a troll...really.

I can't think of one circumstance where I'd visit (let alone post)on a Packer based forum the way he does. He obviously lives a very shallow, empty life.

Get a life LMIT...please!! I'm sure there are all sorts of Packer forums you can join and collectively bash both the Vikings and Minnesota...the place where you call home.

Until then, your posts are nothing more than wasted space.

Wrong again.

What have I said that isn't true? Sorry if the truth hurts your fragile mind, but I don't believe that is worthy of being named a troll just because you don't agree with my comments.

And by the way, this isn't a "Vikings-based forum". It's a football forum. Put your big boy pants on or get over it. smile

You guys are something else...

It's obvious Lmit targets some of you with his posts, he enjoys doing this and knows you will get a rise out it.. Kind of funny really.

Anyway back to McKinney, it was time for him to go. THe last couple years he has really gone downhill in his game and desire, like mentioned. But he was a good draft pick, of course hindsight being what it is, sure we should have taken Ed Reed, Dwight Freeney... but he was a good choice at the time.. At least we didn't pick Levi Jones, another OT, THAT would have been a waste. I think that calling the McKinney pick a waste is a tad over the top...

I just commented on two of your many, many takes that aren't true. The McKinnie and Harvin draft picks.

It may not be a Viking based "forum", I get that, but the majority of your posts...99.5% of them, are posted on Viking's related topics.

I'll say it again...get a life...please!!!

This coming from a guy who says the secondary is solid?? LOL. You wouldn't know a true take if it walked up and bit you on the back of the leg.

All people did was complain about McKinnie time and time again. He was a waste of oxygen and everyone knew it. After the mistake of taking him in the 1st round they were handcuffed because they had made so many poor personnel moves that they couldn't afford to fess up to another and just flat out bench him and be done with him.

Harvin? Pffft. When he plays a full schedule without being a distraction to the organization with his weekly "headaches" then get back to me. The Vikings are balancing on a thin line with that pick, too, and are that close to him becoming another flop of a draft pick...and they knew it going in which is the icing on the cake. Desperation I guess.

I agree and very disapointing when you think about it. Here was a guy that had all the physical tools to become a stud line-men and he just crapped it all down the drain after his last contract. Terrible work ethic and the partying mentalty killed us.

They got what they needed out of him. Wasnt a wasted pick. He was a good player for a while but the past 2 seasons he was painful to watch.

The Vikings are terrible, plain and simple.

McNabb is not going to go Favre on the bit and takes us to the NFC title game.

If he does the Vikes will lose, McNabb has a lot of experience losing NFC title games.

McNabb is a washed up loser.
