This is the gauge in Jordan on the MN river for the past 120 days. 20ft is action stage and 25 is flood stage.

Yep, only once has it been down below the action stage this entire open water season, and we just got about 4 more inches of rain this morning. mad

Sure is frustrating...

Your water's too high, ours is too hot. This heat wave coming up is going to send water temps through the roof, and things get dicey with releasing fish once water temps hit 80 or so...

We're all gonna have to fish...uhh...sunfish, I guess. Wonder if I have any Shore Lunch in the cupboards...

Craptacular summer weather-wise.

Cheers,

RK

I've been hearing the catfishing stinks up here at the Red because of the high waters as well. If Muskies and catfish isn't any good right now there's always walleyes up at LOW. Fishing been as good as I can remember.

Frustrating indeed.

I'm afraid to get into Musky fishing cause I'm a lure junky. I'll go broke.

I currently don't angle for Musky, but I own aboout 8-10 of the smallish Musky lures.

They're just so pretty smile .

This has been a tough year on the MN (heck, any) river.

Tho I realize that we've had an extremely wet Spring into Summer, my worry is that this type of high water (and water fluctuation) will be the norm as the speed with which the drainage areas dump water into the rivers increases due to tileage, etc., etc.

I mountain bike along the MN river at least 3 times a week 'Wilkie" section in Bloomington/Savage,,,a 6 pack wont do it but a 12 pack consumed and then relive yourself in river will probably cause it to flood stage,,that river section was flooded 3 times last year and already 3 time this year,,the walking trail sidewalk turns into apple river like rapids and the cenment has 3 sections washed away the bow fishermen have a blast has the carp love to swim up on sidewalk and lay on the warm black tar sidewalk,,,I wish we could just drian the MN river 'would ya miss it"

Be careful.....might be a musky or two in there.....don't want you to get threatened by any overbearing single species fishermen......although my quote and avatar may be deceiving, I enjoy fishing for anything. Difficult to be a "Die Hard/Elitist" when the fish cause so many problems you can't even get 'em stocked in any area lakes. I love to fish em though and have to make a few trips here and there.....Nothing sends a rush out like seeing one of those fish come in hot.....

In the long run I would imagine this will help the fishing. I've heard that on rivers like the mn (muddy and dirty) prolonged periods of high water will dredge out the river, making more holes to fish in and better conditions for the fish themselves. On top of that, as we all know those high spring waters really help for spawning too!

I think a new avatar of dtro holding a big ski would be sweet!

BTW - a couple flats from the musky guys here - one on topwater

From what I hear, I don't have the stamina to be a musky fisherman. smile

OK, you got my attention on the topwater thing. Are you serious?

I HOPE It's time!!

This whole year has been a bust as far as fishing goes for me, whether it was due to the flooding/ high water this spring and part of the summer, or family obligations, and then the heat! cry

I can't wait! grin It will be different to have the entire fall to fish, since i can't bow hunt any more. Have some new spinnerbaits coming from T.I.to tease the big girls with, along with a box full of other goodies!

Will be on the Miss. this coming weekend, but after that plan on chasing the muskies at Pleasant Creek, and hopefully they will have the road open to a little lake near here for panfish too!!!!! Now if we can have some stabil weather!!
