Purchase license before shutdown!

Recommended Posts

Best purchase any license you need before the possible shutdown!!

Frequently Asked Questions about a Potential State Shutdown for DNR Customers

These questions and answers are intended to provide information for DNR customers — citizens, regulated parties, grantees, local governments, and others — on DNR services potentially affected by a state government shutdown. We will update these FAQs as we receive more information. We also want to emphasize that many of the answers to questions are dependent on the decision of the court. Until the court decides on critical government services, we do not have final answers. These answers are based on the Administration’s recommendation to the court.

What critical services will DNR continue if there is a shutdown? (6-20-11)

Until the court decides, we do not know which DNR services will be critical. We anticipate that the majority of DNR services will not be operating, including our State Parks system and licensing and registration activities. We anticipate that most of our staff will be laid off.

What DNR services does the Administration want to be deemed critical? (6-20-11)

The Administration has submitted several DNR areas to the court for consideration as critical. These range from such activities as maintenance of our nurseries and hatcheries to retaining a complement of Conservation Officers to protect the health, safety and property of the citizens of Minnesota. In addition, a skeleton administrative staff and some incident command personnel have been requested as critical.

Will I still be able to purchase a fishing license if there is a shutdown? (6-20-11)

We anticipate that sale of all fishing, hunting and trapping licenses, including online and telephone sales, will be suspended in the event of a shutdown. Likewise, no boat, ATV or other licenses will be sold. Customers in need of licenses are advised to purchase them before July 1 as a contingency measure.

All natural resource and license laws will remain in effect during a shutdown and will be enforced.

I suppose it will depend upon "how long" the gov. is shut down...That's not until the end of July/first part of August...If they are shut down that long we probably won't have any more state government!! And that could be a good thing!

Some licenses are not available yet like deer hunting licenses...so let's hope they sell them later.

Yep, this is what I was wondering. What if?

Could really stink if I have to miss out on archery season.

i agree. while this whole thing is completely political at the taxpayers expense no party or the governor should be exempt from being guily of wasting the taxpayers dollars. it will be short, if it happens at all. i hope regardless who you have voted for, nomatter how just you feel your side is on this, that you let your reps know how disgusted you are with the leadership and the governor. good luck.

small game is avaiable to purchase now, but deer license is not till aug. 1st.

I don't think it will last long enough to cause any problems, but I may buy my small game before july 1st anyway.

Be sure to let everyone know that it is going to shut down so they get their license's in the next week or they won't get them. And if the shutdown happens let our fine elected offical's know what you think about their lack of doing their jobs. If we did our job like them we would be fired.

I bought a sportsman license, early goose permit, but no duck stamps! Should hope this will not be an issue as this would really put a dent in state coffers if no hunting license, stamps, permits were sold. What are they thinking! Let's Git-R-Done! eek

Hopefully it will only last a week. I was in Alberta all last week and now I am really jacked up for fall. Did not get a chance to purchase my license but really do not see this going for more than two weeks. I guess all I can do now is start loading some rounds and dream. It is going to be a long two months!!

Shutdown ? Never knew our gov't was open ? They've been shutdown for years. Got this clown and that clown and that other clown, what's up ? Lottery dollars go ? Where do lake property tax dollars go ? Mille Lacs, Minnetonka, Leech, Ottertail etc. There should be trillions in our state. These per diem meal money deals, what's up with that ? We and most other states are fairly corrupt correct ?

This cant last long there are programs out there that people depend on, the comodities program has now not helped 51,000 Minnesotains this month that need the resource. The DMV, I just bought Boars bear baiting buggy an cant register it. Wonder how the car sales are going. They gota know that this is hurting Minnesota.

Like MuskyBuck posted, where does our dollars go. WE should have trillions and everything goes up including all the high wigs salary right? Want to cut the budget? Start at the top!! Do they get paid for negotiating this stuff? They will still get their check. While the common state employee that is off is wondering where his money is coming from. You still lose a week if you draw unemployment. In theory, if they are only down 1 WEEK THEN EVERY ONE thats applied for unemployment LOSES one week pay, right? They just lose it!! What a kick in the shorts for those guys that dont have any control over this!!

I suppose I won't be getting my moose license anytime soon that I already paid $310.00 for. That would be just my luck. Finally get drawn and hunt is cancelled because a bunch of worthless politicians in St. Paul can't get along.
