Boatless for the first time in 30+ years.

Howdy all...

Today starts the first time in over 30 years I have not had a boat. Feels a bit strange to look into the garage and see how large it really is. If I hadn't sold it to a father looking to take his kids fishing, I'd most likely still own it. My Dad and I made a TON of great memories in the boat. I can only hope the new owner will be as lucky as I was.

I gave her a firm pat on the bow and watched her get towed away. I know she'll take good care of her new owners.

How about you folks? Ya ever turn into a softy when selling something that meant so much?

Moose, you didn't say why? Didn't use it anymore or no kids to make new memories like you and Dad did? confused I almost cried when I sold one of our two 4 wheelers and one of our 2 up sleds because the kids got married or went off to college! frown

I've never been too attached to boats or any other equipment like campers, snowmobiles, etc. I guess when I buy them I know I'll use them up and eventually send them off to a new owner. What I do cherish are those memories made in the field and on the lakes of all the great people I've been fishing, hunting, etc. with. I have albums full of photos and journals full of notes that I took on my many day trips and excursions. I sometimes wonder those photos and journals will ever be of any value to anyone else but me.

Moose-Hunter - Are you going to buy a new boat or are you out taking a break?

HA!!! I knew I wasn't the only one!! LOL!!

Used this little guy more this season than ALL of last season, and I'm still going strong. Never had kids... of my own that is. My girlfriend has a 13yr old though...

Nope... It's time for NEW memories to be made, new water to be hit and in a new larger boat! grin

Taylor (the 13yr old) well, she wants to go tubing. My girl wants to ski. And me... I want to fish 5 days a week and give the weekends to the ladies in my life.

The new boat is 2ft longer, almost 2ft wider, double the HP and, with the help of our own PerchJerker, will be outfitted BIG TIME!! wink

Dad and I caught a lot of fish in my Lund and made even more memories. Albums and albums of pics, notes, old lake maps... But it's time that tradition went to someone else to hopefully do the same as I and Dad did.

The new owner has already promised me pictures of each and every different species of fish caught by him and his son. Should be a hoot!! laugh

Hum, I find this a little fishy. So you're not boatless then?

Yes sir... I am without a boat. At least for a little while the garage, and I, are boatless. As in I just can't hook anything up to the truck and go fishing. As in I need a dock to get OUT on the water... Trolling means walking... That pretty much sums it up... grin

Right now I to am boatless, sold Pro V about a month ago when the price was Minnesota springtime high. I will replace it this fall/winter with something larger. I wasn't to emotional since it's just a boat, a portal to the memories, not the memories themselves.

i guess i'm more of a softy in general. my dad sold me his boat [crestliner fish hawk] and i used it for many years with many memory's. didn't realy want to sell it but my wife talked me into getting a bigger crestliner because she was thinking pulling the grandkids around even though my grandson was just born at the time and she had visions of more [two granddaughters came along]. well i gave my boat to my oldest daughter at the time and they still have it today. still works great, and i have yet to pull one grandchild behind my boat grin. good luck.

I have ugraded two different times the last 10 years. I would not go so far as to say I was emotional but it was a wierd feeling watching some other dude drive away with my other boats. Every boat has its own nuances that take time to figure out. Lots of hours are spend trolling, drifting, racing around the lakes. Looking at old pictures of catches with the boats in the background bring back memories. The boats help create memmories. Yes they are just a tool but is a tool that you personalized to help you catch fish and enjoy your time on the water. dang now I am getting emotional thinking about my old boats...

my grandpa had an old lund mr. pike that I bought for cheap from grandma after grandpa past away. a few years later sold it cause I needed the money. Didn't bother to bad at the time, but sure am missing it now. The other night while digging through a drawer, I found the spare key to it. It was 11 years to the day that he died. I would do about anything to have it back. I'm sure the day will come to get rid of my current boat. Will be hard thinking that the first fish for both of my kids were caught on it. May have to keep it forever.
