Good fish not sure if it was a record? I am a bad judge at this look back to page 51 of the bass photos and you guys tell me how big the largemouth i caught was! I know how big weight and inches, and if her fish was 9 pounds mine must have beat the world record smile

I agree ive seen alotta fish in the 6-7Lb range and thats where it falls. Like said above the mouth is a dead give away. If it were 9lbs it would go at least hlfway accross her body. Def a nice one though.

For comparison...

Current record.

And the fish in question.

Considering the way the first one is being held out to the camera, I don't think there's as much size difference between the two fish as some are suggesting. If I caught a Minnesota bass the size of the second one, I'd do a backflip in the boat....and then weigh it laugh

I'll bet there are people out right now searching for that lake with that picture in there hand comparing it to the shorelines of every lake in the Ely area. grin

Nice fish no matter what.

I know what lake it is.

I do accept paypal.

Looks small compared to all the bass pictures you typically see...Fish arms length in front of the body grin

Hey, why is that kid holding those ducks out in front of him/her? His/her fists are the size of his/her head!

All fish pics are like that.

cool

It looks to me like she is also holding it out to the camera. I do too...doesn't everyone?

I have a hard time telling fish size in pictures...about all I try to do is compare hand size in relation to the fish. She would have some big hands if it is a 9lb fish.

Thats what I was thinking unless we know the stats (not those kinds of stats...) on her its hard to tell. Regardless, I dont think that fish is more than 7 lbs. but thats just based on the big fish pictures I have seen.

though, I will say I commend her for her C&R ethics. Its a big fish 9 lbs or not.

For comparison page 128 of the "bass photos" thread has 6-8lb fish that look bigger than hers.

Agreed, looks much too small to be 9 lbs, I'd guess around 6.

Off topic, the story says she put it on a stringer to show her husband when he returned, then released it. Doesn't putting it on a stringer reduce it to possession? So hypothetically, if you release a fish that has been reduced to possession, does that make it wanton waste, since the fish's chance for survival is reduced?

My guess, 5.5lbs, assuming she's an average size lady. Here's a couple of pics to show how wide a range they can look. 1st one is of a 4.4lb bass my Dad caught. And another one I caught that was 7lb 1oz. We're both 6'2". Both were weighed on the berkley digital scales.

It's hard to judge Bass by pictures, but I usually look at the hand size compared to the mouth of the Bass.

too funny! That IS a huge bass and VERY WELL could be that big. So hard to judge pics. just look at the last two...can you really tell the 3 lb difference? thats a BIG difference and look how hard it is!

Also, look at the tail length. her hand can clearly fit between the lower fin and tail, his would have no chance (yes-smaller hands).

Her hand can clearly fit in the mouth...his no way (again she has smaller hands). But that would let me to believe it has a good chance.

I dont know about a record but imo that fish is all of 7lbs and probably more. She isn't holding it out (like most) and that thing has a gut. Also look at the thickness of the tail, i've caught a 48.5 inch muskie where my hand didnt fit around the tail area (like the picture) and a picture can never do a fish like that justice imo again. So maybe not a 9lber but in any circumstances a true northern piggy. congrats to her on a fish i only dream of catching some day.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
