Finding an 11 or 5 lb tank

I don't really want to carry around the 20 lb tank while fishing. Is it my best bet to just purchase one online? I checked/called Ace/Menards/local propane companies and no one seems to carry the 5 or 11's. Does anyone know if Fleet or Cabelas have them in stock?

I picked up my tall 11 lber at a Menards, and you can get them at Gander Mountain at times. Also, try U Haul places for tanks and for fills. I paid as much for a 20 lb and an 11lb to be filled as I usually pay for a simple 20 lb exchange! Plus, they top off tanks and only charge you for what you needed, instead of for a full fill.

I talked to my local co-op that changes the valves for customers and also fills tanks.

I have recieved 3 5# tanks from them as the customers did not want to pay the fee of $18 to change to the new POL valve.

So, I get their tanks for that fee. Cheap for a 5# tank and a new valve.

You can also check the List of C. Got mine off of there but had to keep looking over and over. One day guy posts at noon has a 11lb pancake with new valve full for $20. I emailed him at 12:30 saying I'd pick it up as soon as work was done if he wanted. Felt bad as it was almost stealing but the guy just had no use for it and was happy to have it out of his way.

Picked up an 11# tank at Cabela's a few years back. Up in the camping department. Just went to their site and typed in Propane Tank and found them.

If you look on the u-haul site you can get the lite propane tanks in 10 and 20 pounds and anything over 25bucks gets you free shipping. I will be ordering a 10 pound tank they are 79 to 85 bucks depends on the color, but I get a discount off the HSOforum as I'm an employee so my cost will be cheaper.

Picked one of mine up at Gander a few years back (I still see them in there all the time), and my second one was through a buddy that worked for Ferrellgas. Got that one for $20 and it was filled with propane when I got it.

An 11lb pancake is near the top of my things to buy list. I've got a couple 20's and a couple 5's now. The 5's are nice but a pancake 11lber will still fit snug in a milk crate, but doesnt stick up above the crate like a 20. Nice hauling them in a crate as they dont tip or slide around as much.

Hopefully you ordered the Pankake style the talls are worthless IMO!

Huh, I've got the tall one and like it's small size. It's no taller than my big buddy heater, and takes up less room in the sled than a pancake or 20 lber. I haven't had any problems with it tipping over any worse than a 20 lber, either. Less, in fact without assistance from a milkcrate.

I got rid of my steel tanks and replaced them with #10 & 20# Lite Cylinder tanks. They are 30% lighter tank any other tank, I always know my fuel level with a quick glance as it is visible and measurable with the gauge on the side, nothing to rust ever, sturdy as steel with no cold steel to stick to my hands, handy shape allows for hose storage on the top and it fits perfectly under the Seat in my Frabill Commando R2 Tech.

The price is higher but they are now coming down in price at retail, becoming more affordable. The advantages of this Lite Cylinder tank system far out way any increase in cost to me.

I have a couple seasons on mine now and love them. I will get more as needed. I also like they are made in the USA, good jobs for Americans here at home.

Took me a bit to find it there but Ya, that is a very fair price on that site. It is the cheapest I have seen on the #10 Lite Cylinder Tanks.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
