my neighbor lets his dog (lab) out every morning. he makes a bee-line across the street and does his business on my boulavard. is there any thing i can put out there or spray etc. to deter this. the fact that my neighbor condons this explains his attitude. talking to him does no good. i like dogs but shouldn't have to clean up after someone else's pet.

Take Jim Careys lead from the movie Me Myself And Irene and see what kind of reaction you get from the neighbor.

A number of years ago we had the same problem except the owner of the dog was walking it on the leash! We spoke to him about it but it didn't help, called the cops no help either. After collecting his dogs deposits plus a five gallon pail full from a friend who breeds dogs and dumping it on his front door step it stopped. He called the cops and I just told them we were returning what was left in our yard. That ended it.

It is still cold, scoop up the dogs business collect it and dump it on his driveway. Oh don't forget to bring it on the house with a cover on it and let it all thaw out. And do it late at night so in the morning it will be frozen solid in one big pile.

You need to scare the heck out of that dog. so it remembers not to go over there. Sounds cruel but how do you think the dog learned to go there? it remembered its owner always bringing it there. So if you give it ONE good scare, it will remember there is something scary over there. If you know when the dog is let out, you could hide some how and just before its gonna do the business jump out at it.

Id say shoot at it with a paintball gun but that would probably get you jail time.

What about bear pepper spray? that stuff shoots 30 some feet. you could shoot it at the dog(make sure you are not down wind) when hes running over there. Or if you know the exact area the dog goes to the bathroom in you could run out and coat the area with pepper spray and go back in.

You could make a BIG sign, with the guys name on it. MR. John Doe, Please stop letting your dog defecate on my yard.

if you live in a small town and lots of people will see it im sure it will stop. Better yet put an add in the paper.

if your feeling nasty...

Two words....cheese and exlax!

Put two exlax pills in a piece of american cheese where the dogs usually use the facilities in your yard. The dogs eat the cheese and exlax and don't make it to your yard the next time. Not only will the dogs leave their mark in their owners house, but the neighbors will figure it's something they are eating and keep them in their yard to watch them to make sure they're not eating something bad....best part is that there's no way you will get caught...problem solved!

Ive also heard of a guy filling up a mason jar with his own urine. And pouring it out in a small line across his property line. He did refreshed this every week or so, and after it rained, and than he forgot about it. But it seemed to do the trick to keep dogs off his yard. Interesting if it actually works.????

I would collect it and put it on the neighbors doorstep if it is causing you grief. The problem isn't the dog, it's the neighbor and shooting the neighbor with the bb gun or paint ball gun probably won't work out too well. It's also likely not gonna work out too well with local law enforcement when bb's have to be extracted from the dogs rump.

My neighbor's dog regularly drops deuces in my backyard. I would prefer that this not happen, but frankly, I have got better stuff to worry about than some dog carp. I just pick it up with a shovel and toss it behind the shed. It's just not worth starting some cop calling Hatfield and McCoy stuff with the neighbor.

When we lived out east, my neighbor told me there was a dog that would wander the street and do his duty in anyones yard, which ticked off the entire street...till someone called the dog over on one of his trips and "accidentally" sprayed him with skunk extract cover scent and taped a note to his collar about keeping his dog in his own yard.

According to my neighbor, that did the trick.

Since he did his duty on many different lawns, the owner had no idea who the scent donor was.

Cannot tell you if it detered the dog or detered the owner. The dog was history by the time we moved in, but enjoyed the story.

Exactly! That's like the neighbors who don't watch their kids and they run around in the street. That doesn't mean I should hit them with my car.

Dude, YOU were the one that suggested shooting the dog!

In my neighborhood, I walk my Lab twice a day (morning and night), probably 2-3 miles between the 2 walks. He does a #2 during the morning and the night walk. They make these great little bags that make it easy to pick this stuff up and my boy does some BIG ones! I can grab them with the bag, flip it inside out, and we are good to go. Ain't a big deal.

I had a lady come out of her house once because Morgan was walking on her grass. I was in the street, he was on a 6' leash, I can't keep him out of the grass, thats where the smells are. wink I told her I pick up all his [PoorWordUsage] but because you confronted me for the sake of confronting me, I'll leave them when he goes in your yard. Haven't heard from her since. smile

Seams like dogs try to go [PoorWordUsage] in the same place all the time, as I can go on a 2 mile walk and he [PoorWordUsage] within feet of the same place over and over and over again. He'll then pick a new place further into the walk and do the same thing for a week, then its on to the new spot.

For those of you with a neighbor dog problem, talk to the owner ASAP or it'll be very tough to correct the dogs behavior. The owner needs to correct it the sooner the better. The dog just knows thats the place I go [PoorWordUsage]. Owner needs to change that spot.

For the record, that is the most "Poor Word Usages" I have ever received in 1 post in my life here. "Poor Word Usage" = P-O-O-P-S wink

I'm going to keep editing all the posts that talk about shooting ANYTHING at dogs.

The conversation can keep going, but last I checked it was illegal to shoot ANYTHING that was out of season, and for the life of me, I simply cannot find the season on hunting dogs.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
