Green: Spook, Spro type frog, Pop-R, Hula Popper (Yeah I know. But, if you turn off the trolling motor and fish it right, it's dynamite), Black Jitterbug (nite-bite).

Brown: Heddon Torpedos, Skitter-Prop, Spook Jr, Pop-R.

Keep 'em comin'. I love buying top-waters.

I'm a fan of rapala skitter props. No one else I know has success with them, but I sure find plenty of takers. Prop style topwaters are one of the older lures out there, my grandpa's got a homemade one from when he was like, 10. I want to get it framed, would make a great showpiece in a wooden box w/glass pane

I second Ray's list exactly with exception of Boy Howdy???? I'll google that one. And I use frogs A LOT for smallmouths.

Pop-R (largemouth and smallmouth)

Buzzer (largemouth and smallmouth)

Frog (largemouth and smallmouth)

goblueM,

As for poppers, fast eratic twitches with short pauses every 5 twitches or so to allow for a strike.

Sometimes as slow as cast it out and let the wake disappear, twitch, let wake disappear, repeat

Mostly experiment with retrieves until you find out what they want.

i cast, and let it sit till the wakes disappear. then i do only 3 twitches before i let it pause again for the wakes to disappear. i change distances between those twitches with what works better for that morning.

if i am using a hula popper and its both real calm and foggy i will chug that bait as loud as i can go the first twitch or 2. then do normal ones.

PopR and Spooks are tried and true for me. I will mix it up with a Yozuri 3D Popper or Banana Boat. I will toss an Owner Gobo Popper when I feel I need a lower sitting profile on the water and less popping noise. Sammys are also good to mix things up for me.

Cool to see someone still using a devil's horse and I have 0 patience to walk a dog like a spook. I do have some, but I don't use them much.

How do you fish Jawbreaker spoons on top? I would assume they sink so you either reel them in fast or fish them on top of pads?

They are actually pretty easy to fish on top. You can actually work them pretty slowly in fact. Keep your rod tip up and reel, and they pop up and sort of chug along on top. Twitch as you reel and you can kind of walk the dog with them even.

Just remember to set the hook off to the side. When you forget, miss a fish, and get nailed by the spoon, it stings...

Cheers,

Rob Kimm
