Fishing with 2 lines in MN?

Just wondering what public opinion is on the use of 2 lines during the open water season in MN. Most other surrounding states allow the use of multiple lines. I've never heard an argument against the use of 2. Personally I usually don't keep any fish but for arguments sake. My oppinion is that if they have a limit on the amount of fish you can keep per day what is the difference how fast you catch your limit. What do you guys think?

I'd be fine with the two lines for open water. I've fished wisc. many a time with 2 lines and mabey I'm not coordinated (or good w/spelling)enough to manage 2 lines but I tended 1 more than the other. Also some people who keep all that they catch should not be offered the opportunity. so in the end I guess I'm 50/50. GOOD LUCK!

I can't tell you how nice it would be, especially for shore fishing. Toss out one with slip bobber or a bottom rig, and pass the time casting a jig or crankbait with the other.
I also agree, why should it matter as long as we have restricted limits. The only problem I see is that more people might actually catch and take there limit, which is a non-factor in my case.

I think an extra line should cost an extra $25 or more. Regulations stay the same...Win-Win...Angler-DNR. Course right now, an extra line costs around $80-$100!

Great idea for the extra charge. The side of the debate that the fishing quality would go down wouldn't be as strong because the DNR could use it for more stocking... Or pay the salary for more officers to patrol the folks fishing w/2 lines to make sure they are legit... HMM. GOOD LUCK!

i agree with dtro... 2 lines would be nice when shore fishing so you can cast and bobber fish at the same time!!! i have never seen a valid arguement as to why you can in the winter and not in the summer. probably has to do with the same reason that up until the last few years you could only shoot one deer per season even if you had doe tag. some one some where in the government is making up stupid rules to make it look like their job is important.

I would be up for two lines, but how would you work that for bassin' I can see trolling cranks and shore oppertunities etc, but I guess it would be ok as long as the extra cost would be an "add-on" as some people may not want to use two lines, especially bobbering on mille lacs, so with all that mumblings, Iwould be for it.
Best fishes

I am all for 2 lines it is ridiculas to be allowed two through the ice but only one in open water. I for one would love to anchor up on a rock hump and set a bobber rig out while pitchin a jig.

2 lines and it shouldn't cost more. The limit should regulate the harvest, not the method.

Perhaps we have the one line law because of, well, tradition. I have read reports stating that Minnesota has closed seasons is due to tradition, hard to have an opener when it's always open. Our legislatures have a difficult time dealing with change and I believe uncovering fallacies in information that they receive. I would love to pitch out a bobber and bait whilst casting a lure. Two lines good idea, perhaps that should have been a resolution written and submitted at our caucusses.
God lyk!

I agree with the two lines idea.

I've been used to using two lines every else I've been surrounding MN.

It's boring when you throw out a slip bobber and just sit there and wait. As many have said it would be nice to be able to cast a lure or jig and use a slip bobber at the same time.

We should get 2 lines, no extra fee, and lower the limits if you want (thinking mainly walleye). A limit will still guide fish kept.
By the way let us take our plugs out duck hunting too. 3 shots for a six duck limit, 5 shots for a 2 pheasant limit, 5 shots for 1 deer, doesn't make sense.
