I have several deer hunting knivies a from the monster Buck knife to a Buck gut hook that I just purchased this year and love it and its like putting a zipper on a deer. I also have a few Schardes.

I broke the tip off of one of my new Schardes this year so I went online to find out that they closed the doors in 2004 so I'm not sure if they can be replaced but I did find that I could and did but two of the same stlye knifes for the same price that I paid for the one that I broke. I also lost and old timer with a gut hook fixed blade last weekend. We were out on the wheeelers looking for a doe that my boy shot and when we got back Inoticed that it had fallen out of the sheath.

Outdoor Edge Hybrid Hunter Drop Point for me.

Lifetime warranty, a rubberized handle for when you get into it and not have to worry about the handle slipping, lightweight, fixed blade, yet small enough where it doesn't jab me in the side.

I've bought a lot of hunting knives of all brands over the last 30something years. They all cut when they're sharp and don't cut when they're dull. Nowadays when I go deer hunting, whichever one is closest is the one that gets tossed in the pack.

For the record, I've got a black Cold Steel fixed blade knife with rubber handle that I like a lot. smile

I have a set of Western knives that I use. Were my fathers and I got them when he passed. Very good knives. Hold thier edges nice. Have a 6" one I use for gutting and cutting, and a smaller one for skinning. Love them!

Mueleas are the best I own, 2nd in line is my Gerbers, rest just collect dust in the cabinet. I have quartered 2 elk, and dressed and skinned 6 deer in a season and not had to touch the Meulea, not easy to find but woth it if you find one, I think mine is the Grizzley model.

I have a 4 inch gerber smooth blade that has been around the block. it has gutted elk, deer, javalina, cut wire, scraped gaskets and cut steak. As long as it is sharp, it does not matter on size or type, just that you keep it in good shape. I have a gut hook and never have used it, just got comfortable with my pocket knife. The only thing i can recommend is that if it is a locking blade, some times the lock will get full of hair and fat causing it to unlock. that too me is the only downfall.
