Favre Investigation?

Bob Barker said it best: "There's too dam many unscrupulous women out there". grin Although Jen isn't the one who's pushing the issue here.

The NFL and the media are creating their own Favre saga.

Didn't Bob Barker get sued by almost all of his Barker Beauties for harrasement?

Glazer: Favre admitted to leaving voicemails, but denied sending inappropriate pictures.

I predict a suspension this week. There is more and more slowly leaking out and it was only a matter of time....but it surely wouldn't happen prior to a nationally televised game in which he plays his old team. NFL/NBC will rake in the viewers tonight and then cut him loose shortly after.

Saw that last night on SNL. Keeps getting worse and worse with the media in this day and age we live in. When does it come to an end? If this had ever been an issue Sterger would have taken steps herself. I call media outlets like Deadspin the armpit of society. Fully willing to destroy anyones life at the benefit of fame and earning a buck. And then people laugh at this sort of thing as if it is comical completely blind of seeing just how pathetic things have become in this world.

If you want to be a high profile athlete or anything else in the media spotlight this is what you open yourself up to now days kids. Whether you have done anything wrong or not doesn't matter. Pathetic.

The only two places I was at this moring and have checked so far:

Sterger's manager denies report that silence is for sale

Posted by Mike Florio on October 24, 2010 9:22 AM ET

On Friday, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported that former Jets sideline reporter Jenn Sterger would decline to cooperate with the NFL's ongoing investigation regarding Vikings quarterback Brett Favre if Favre were to pay her not to talk.

Not surprisingly, Sterger's manager has denied the claim.

"Jenn's willingness to cooperate with the NFL's investigation is not for sale," Phil Reese told the New York Post. "This decision is ultimately Jenn's to make, and hers only."

Reese added that Sterger "doesn't know what to do at the moment," and that she's "strongly considering" meeting with the league.

Here's why no one should believe what Reese is saying. Sterger has hired a lawyer who has said he will "pursue any potential remedies that may exist." That necessarily means Sterger wants to cash in, either via a settlement or a lawsuit, against any parties who may have legal responsibility to her.

Whether by settlement or lawsuit, cooperating with the NFL isn't in her best interests. A settlement has maximum value before she cooperates. If she plans to file a lawsuit, cooperation would compromise her interests in the litigation, since anything she tells the NFL would then become her official version of the story, and when she testifies at trial the lawyers for Favre, the Jets, and/or the NFL would try to demonstrate the existence of a conflict between what she said during the interview and what she's saying under oath, in the hopes of painting her a someone who isn't telling the truth.

Thus, the notion of cooperating with the NFL directly conflicts with the desire to "pursue any potential remedies that may exist." Once she cooperates, she undermines her ability to "pursue any potential remedies that may exist."

It could be that the criminal defense specialist Sterger has hired has recommended that neither Sterger nor Reese say anything that would potentially fall within the confines of extortion. It's one thing to request money to settle a valid legal claim. It's potentially quite another to demand payment to buy silence in an investigation unrelated to any legal rights or remedies that the alleged victim may have.

Our guess? Sterger's camp is trying to send out smoke signals to Favre's camp, in the hopes that Favre's camp will make the first move, offering a "settlement" of her potential claims.

Favre's camp could be calling their bluff, since time is on their side. Eventually, the NFL will give up on trying to get Sterger to cooperate, and the NFL will conclude its investigation. Eventually, Sterger's statute of limitations for filing a lawsuit will expire.

It's high-stakes poker for both parties, and how it all plays out remains to be seen.

Brett Favre Scandal: Jenn Sterger Will Accept Money for Silence

By Bailey Brautigan (Featured Columnist) on October 24, 2010 - Minneapoli

This information has not yet been confirmed, but several sources are reporting that former New York Jets employee Jenn Sterger will accept money from Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for her silence regarding the "sext" message scandal.

You know what this sounds like?

What's the word...

Oh yeah, extortion.

"I have more dirt on you, but if you give me money I'll keep my mouth shut."

Isn't that illegal?

Unless Jenn Sterger has videos of Brett Favre killing puppies, Favre should press charges.

It amazes me how people in our society become addicted to easy money.

Why would you want to work when you could get it for free?

This obsession with cutting corners while still getting paid is exactly why so many people have gambling problems.

This is exactly why there are so many drug dealers.

And this is exactly why women like Jenn Sterger feel that they have nothing more to offer the world than a sexual harassment scandal involving someone with actual talent.

Favre's wife will be on Good morning America tomorrow I here also? Yep, suspension is emanate! Yeah right. grin I predict silence and we will never know, with Favre playing the entire season. wink

+1 Harvey, it just gets old i think its kinda funny brett the old dude chasing some hottie but whatever.

Just wait until you become the "old dude" (41) and I guess funny never even crosses your mind. grin When being 40 you then pass of being 60+ as being old. I guess when your 40 (not a Pro athlete though) you maybe still feel young? I don't know? I am only 33 still, but look at those late 20's something people much different than I did when I was in my early 20's.. grin

I do guess 40 is pretty old though? You'e almost to retirement pretty much. laugh

No genegodawa, 41 (IMO) is not old at all. I just like how the term is thrown around when referring to Favre and the possibility of Favre doing what he is accused of. Jenn Sterger is not teenage girl either. I think she is almost 30? For a 28-30 woman to be married/flirt/date a 41 year guy is not outrageous to me. In fact it is right in the normal range. Minus 2 years ago would throw Jenn in the 25-26 range. Now if she was 18 or 19, then that might be cause for "pervert" to be used.

This is an old guy chasing a young woman IMO:

Just FYI She is only 26 now which would make her 24 when the perv did most of his sexting. Kinda young for a grandpa to be going after.
