Ahhhhh!!!!!! I have not caught a fish in a week. This is strange. Not even a little tiny pumpkinseed.

So, for all of y'all who have been through this, what's your fav thing to do to break the cold streak?

Tonight I am going to try something new.

Going to my favorite spot, wearing my lucky orange polo, Auburn hat, and sunglasses... pourin a little bit of my favorite "mind easer" just in the water by the shore before i walk to the dock, and simply tossin out a slip bobber and a leech. If no luck in a half hour I am pricking my finger. If still no luck, I'm going to the hospital to see my buddy's newborn twin daughters.

When nothing is working, I hit up Loch Ness Lake.. real close to your home in Lino. It's full of 3 inch panfish that will chow down hard on the tiniest of flies for fly fishing. Seriously, SMALL flies.. or chunks of nightcrawler on the smallest hook you can find.

They all live right below the fishing dock.

i have been there, and honestly, somewhat there right now. we are in the middle of moving into a new home, and cannot get out...ugghhh!

i would focus all of my efforts in the night bite for starters! secondly, try making a trip to King Mill Dam...starting to get some action out there. and finally, the river (ole Miss) is kicking out some nice fish just before dark.

good luck...you'll make it happen!

Pay close attention to the water temperature.

Take surface temperature readings, and by taking temperature readings with a submersible gauge. You will quickly determine what depth to concentrate in.

Water temp will show you where to go in the fall...guaranteed.

I'm a lifelong golfer, and a former pitcher. I am superstitious by default.

Don't have my own boat yet... and we had to put the cabin-boat away for winter due to some family things to deal with the rest of the fall frown So i'm a little shore-bound at the moment. Went with a buddy to the river last week, he caught a nice mess of lm and sm bass, of good size, and I caught, weeds, a rock, and a sizeable tree limb (go go gadget fireline i guess, at least it felt a little like a fish)

Well, whatever I did last night paid off. It was 8:30 by the time I hit the dock... sporting my Lucky shirt and hat. Decided to pour out a little cola as well (didn't have any of new ulms finest brew left).

Anyway, didn't stay out too long, but managed to break the cold streak with this smallish but very nice lookin northern, just shy of the 2lb mark. Wish the photo was a bit better, but hey.

Now don't get me wrong, I don't go fishing to "catch fish," I love being out on the water, and even if i'm not catching a thing it's the most relaxing thing i can think of. smile

How could a guy like me not respond to this thread? My advice is to follow Northlander's advice. Try a new spot, an old or new lure that has never produced before, a new presentation. ...and remember, a bad day of fishing is a good day of drinking (juice of course)

Heh.. yeah, leeches didn't really do much. I needed to cut my leech into 7 pieces and put one on the smallest hook i have to have something bite leeches the other night. The Rap in the photo is actually one I've had for some time but never really used before. Just thought that since the no 5 version worked in the spring... if they're lookin bigger maybe the no 9 will work.

I actually landed the smallie of my life on a "here fishy fishy" call. Other calls that have worked in the past: "mmmm..... crawlers" or "Mmmmmm.... leeches" wink

Saturday Morning I'm goin to the river with some worms to play proverbial "fish roulette."
