Twins 2010 MVP = Michael Cuddyer?

Richard Bremer just got done making the comment that he beleives the team MVP this year is Michael Cuddyer because of his versatility. He also stated that the only guy that is irreplaceable at this point is Cuddyer. Bert Blyleven agreed with him.

Sorry Cuddy Haters!

Shudder to think Sled was handing Del(NOT)Money the AL MVP 2 months into the season. Tisk tisk.

Delmons quick start was a shock to everyone, and I knew it would end. I was more shocked he showed up at the beginning of the season instead of the end of the season like he usually does.

Point made- back to the flooding

I dont think any cuddy haters will disagree. However he is only getting this award (allegedly) for his defense and filling in for Morneau and the other positions he filled in at.

If you guys still think his offense numbers were good enough to justify a "MVP" season than more power too you. I wont take away his ability to play multiple positons etc (its obviously been a life saver), but he has underperformed by far at the plate. If he was an MVP he would still produce consistantly regardless of what position he plays or where he bats in the line up.

Delmon has outperformed Cuddy, batting lower in the batting order and usually behind cuddyer. I would like to see how many of the 108 RBI's Young has are because Cuddy left them on base striking out down and away.

Cuddy's flexibility is a great thing to have. Also, I can't fault them for thinking it, however I think Valencia has made just as big a contribution.... lord knows what would have happened at 3rd base without him this season...

Before everyone starts falling all over themselves about Cuddy's play at first base...... last I checked that is where they put the weakest defensive player on a baseball team.....

Yeah, it's nice that Cuddyer has only played slightly below-average defense at 1B and produced far below what was expected of him on offense.

Sure. MVP it is.

Agree with this. Terrible at fielding grounders and even worse at digging balls out of the dirt. I seen more out of Morales at first in his one game against Cleveland than Cuddyer the whole time he has been there. Did you guys hear that? It's Cuddyer waving at another slider in the dirt.

Wonder why Delmon isn't playing there then?

The fan poll at star trib site didnt even have cuddy on the ballot. The blogger who used to be twins beat writer put him 9th and all regular season bloggers there who follow closely had him 7th. Just goes to show many different opinions. Don't agree on cuddy being mvp but can understand some thinking him worthy.

Wonder though if any can honestly say you want him batting witth game on the line. Id rather see many others batting in that situation but sure will be cheering for him to come through if that occurs in playoffs.

HA HA!

Look at Delmons numbers from this season CRUSHING Cuddys career numbers at the tender age of 25.

My vote would be Valentia for solidifying and playing an outstanding third base. I thought he really stepped up his game down the stretch...and I thought he was solid before that. His play also kept the likes of Punto and others out of the line-up...right where they belong.

Cuddy would be a good pick and Thome would have to be considered too.

Pavano was clutch all year long....

4 errors (tied with 7 other players in the AL including possible MVP Josh Hamilton) vs 10 assists (5th in AL) for delmon young

next

NOT catching the ball when it lands a foot in front of you doesn't count as an error. It is just poorly judging a routine fly ball. If it were an error he would have a million and a half a year. You can put all the errors and defensive stats on here you want, if you truly think he is a good defensive OF'er your parents should have not let you near the window sills when you were younger.

BTW, Delmon should be batting .325+ the way he started this season- but he isn't, his numbers have fallen off horribly

sure delmon is a below avg outfielder, but what would you rather have? Someone like repko who is above avg but cant hit to save his life?

....its funny that Delmons number have fallen off yet hes trumped Cuddys best seasons

    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
    • The water looked and smelled disgusting with hundreds of thousands of birds sh*tting in there.  About as gross as the Salton Sea. When I duck hunted there I didn't even want to touch the water.
    • It's kinda gross with the algae in the summer but I got in it anyway.  Wanted to see the increased bouyancy at work.  You can kinda tuck yourself into a ball and you'll just float with your head above water.  When dry off you look diamond encrusted with the salt.
    • We went to the flats too. I dipped a tire on the rental car onto it just to say I’ve been there, but it was still pretty soft from winter melt. After seeing some moron in a BMW suv get dragged out of the muck I had no intention of repeating his stupidity.
    • I've been out on the flats. It's like being on a different planet
