Twins Acquire Fuentes

So the White Sux get waiver claims to Manny today and the Twins counter by acquiring Fuentes from the Angels. A decent closer, not great, but decent. I just don't really agree with it, we now have three closers in the bullpen. We can build the best bullpen in the majors, but it's not going to matter come playoff time when we have to go out and play the Yankees. Sure we got him for a song, but what is it going to matter when the Yankees or Rays tear up our starters and our offense just isn't capable of keeping up.

Don't get me wrong, any acquisition at this point in the season is great; I just wish we could of done more to get a starter. I get frustrated being so "close" to being a World Series team and making a minor move that doesn't put us over the top.

I agree...also brings some versatility to the 8th and 9th innings. I wouldn't be suprised to see Gardy share the closer role even in the 9th.

Twins starting pitching is 22-8 since the all star break. That's best in the majors.. Any aquisition is good at this point, Fuentes will be a set up guy for Capps.

You guys want a big time move? We don't need a bat. We could maybe use a starting pitcher but 22-8 isn't bad!

Fuentes for a player to be named.... The Twins should be arrested for Robbery! Great move by the Twins. A legit SHUT DOWN lefty out of the pen and a guy who is definitely motivated to be here after taking some shots at the Angels on his way out the door.

great move. at this point in the season, you do whatever you can to make your club better. would a true #1 starter be great? yep, but they dont seem to often get through waivers. so this move was available and they took it. nice move and makes the whole club better.

as mentioned, we now need Morneausy back. C'mon Justin, we are rooting for ya!
