solbes
Maybe this guy is pretty smart. Wish I could send a couple o' text messages and stand to gain $7 mil. I might have to try that at my next annual review. As far as this thread goes, "This PLEASES Brett..."
LMITOUT
Brett Favre is on the high school football field in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, according to NFL Network's Scott Hanson.
harvey lee
I would agree Farve is not a media queen but the press maybe.Farve probably sits back and chuckles at it all.
Cooter
I would agree Farve is not a media queen but the press maybe.Farve probably sits back and chuckles at it all. Have you guys been living in a hole the past 3 years?
DTro
No kidding Favre could put an end to all this (and previous episodes) by making an official statement either way, and then following it up by acting as he stated.
Big Dave2
No kidding Favre could put an end to all this (and previous episodes) by making an official statement either way, and then following it up by acting as he stated. Or people could just quit worrying about it and wait until the season starts to find out. I don't make an official statement each weekend before I come back to work on monday that I am not retiring. If he makes a statement to the media then everyone will acuse him of being a "media queen".
FISHINGURU
Eat it up boys!! Everyone calls Favre an attention whore but everyone just loves to read and talk about it.
harvey lee
You got it Dave. The press is only looking for something to up their ratings.Pretty sad.

Like Favre would send out text messages to select team-mates to announce his retirement. Sorry Longwell who is probably his closest friend on the team. I forgot to include you on my retirement text list announcement. Yes ESPN has become TMZ like Fat-Tire stated!
harvey lee
Farve just stated that he has not made any decision on playing football this season. He also stated that money is not a factor.Brett has an doctors appt next week with the surgeon that operated on his ankle. The rest Brett stated is all [PoorWordUsage].Thanks Star & Trib and ESPN for all the lies. zepman
No kidding Favre could put an end to all this (and previous episodes) by making an official statement either way, and then following it up by acting as he stated. Why should he have to do this...this is exactly what ESPN and every other media outlet HOPES happens...a Brett Favre interview, statement, or presser...either way...it's more $$$ in their pockets with the ratings upswing. harvey lee
I also agree Zepman. Not Farves job to see that these fools get it all correct.
sdpikehntr
Its the same song and dance each year for the past 5 yrs. I just wish he would change his tune a little bit; you know he might be getting predictable. I could care less about what the media says, I don't get excited until the first coin flip of the reg season... then the s.o.b. better be there! Not expecting anything til then, and I'm sure we won't get anything til then, you know "he could change his mind" again and again and again and again and again... and again and again.. and again... local laker
I think of him as a hold out.All players under contract should report to all mandatory team activities.I also feel the commish should step in and make him report,or suspend him.I feel the team gives him too big of a leash.Whats next,Peyton ,Brady, Brees skipping ota's? Probably not cause they are team players.I think the vikes have opened too big of a door for the rest of the nfl prima donnas to take advantage of. lichen fox
Here's the latest...."Bevell spoke today after a morning practice in Mankato. He has been close friends with Favre dating back to when Bevell was the quarterbacks coach for the Green Bay Packers.Bevell says he has spoken to the 40-year-old quarterback recently, but not in the last 24 hours. He says it's been his understanding all along that if Favre's surgically repaired left ankle heals well enough, Favre will return to play for the Vikings this season.Favre's agent, Bus Cook, also said today that Favre plans to play if his health holds up. He says Favre will visit his surgeon, Dr. James Andrews, next week.Favre also spoke to the Star Tribune of Minneapolis earlier this morning, stating that he has not texted his teammates about the issue and has made no definitive decision whether he is retiring." DTro
I'LL TELL YA WHY HE NEEDS TO DO IT!Because his pansy rear doesn't have enough respect for the rest of his team to show up in training camp. So now everyone has to wonder if he is playing or not. Yeah I said it ^^ You think Hutchinson and Allen like being there? How about Winfield and AP?Guess who is there sweating the arses off though? I like his game and will be happy to see him in purple, but gimme a break on the coddling.

Why should Favre be any different? We can all speculate about how much he loves the spotlight, but it's hard to disagree with the fact that he's always in it and it's not always brought on by the media. Jim Uran
Power rankings need not be adjusted.... hahah! I agree with Darren to some respect but if you're a 20 year vet and you were able to get away with it last year, I say why not. Heck they even offered him a raise haha! Shack
Dtro I do agree with exceptions below: I like this and these kind of stories for the entertainment value they bring. Lets face (cause it has happened and is happening) Favre is the only player in the NFL (maybe even its history) to be able to do this. Good, bad, or the ugly, its happening and it's a great prelude to the season other than "They suited up for the first time in training camp today!" or "Such & Such pulled a muscle during stretching this morning".... Just soak it up while we can. In another year+ we could be back to the same old Vikings start to the season. IMO is about as exciting as watching paint dry till about week 2 or 3. Quote: Because his pansy rear doesn't have enough respect for the rest of his team to show up in training camp. So now everyone has to wonder if he is playing or not. Yeah I said it ^^ I would say the chances are good this is true, but no facts are being brought forward yet as to why he is not in training camp. Nobody knows. DTro
oh, don't get me wrong, if he can get away with it, more power to him. But don't try and lay the blame of the whole hoopla on the media. He is well aware of what is going on, and lovin every minute of it.
PierBridge
Brett Favre's a pansy now? That could be the most ludicrous thing I've heard in a while other than Brett Favre should be suspended.
Nick Kuhn
He just timed his surgery to make sure he'd miss the first few weeks of training camp. I bet his ankle will be feeling pretty good on the last week of August, and not a moment sooner.
