Which is more rare-- no hitter or Mauer last night??

Heard an interesting stat on the radio--

Since the dead ball era (1920), their have been 177 no hitters thrown in the Majors (not including postseason). In the same time period,, their have been only 44 players to go at least 5 for 5 with 7 or more RBI's. Mauer is an ELITE company,, 4 times more so than a no-no.

Pete will be in the HOF in a few years. HE was at the REDS game about a week ago sitting in the front row,, and the entire stadium game him a long standing ovation. The dude did things your not supposed to do--- after he played--- when he played,, he was the best I've ever seen for hustle and being a gamer.

And rarest of all a manager that pulls the 5-5 guy when he has a chance for 6-6 or the cycle.

When you're up by 18 points you don't rub the other teams nose in it. IMO, Mauer should have been pulled before his last at bat. The game's not (supposed to be) about individual stats.

True FT.... tough to find a manager that smart who would put class and the team in front of an insignificant meaningless stat like a cycle or a 6 hit game in 19-1 blow-out.

Tough to watch Garza throw that gem last night for sure.

no chin music last night and why should there have been.....they weren't trying to overdue it but they played ball the way it should and they just kept hitting the ball and it kept finding open areas in the field. they weren't trying to score alot of runs rather than they just happen to score alot of runs!!

one of our guys did see one inside after a hr - can't remember who. it was followed promptly by a visit to the mound. maybe the pitcher had his own agenda and the pitching coach wanted to make sure things didn't get out of hand.

Was it you or zamboni who proclaimed the cycle the greatest feat in baseball last year when cuddy did it?

a good stat guy here,, but I would like to know the times a guy has been 5 for 5 and been pulled for a PH.(run that one by Elias) Not many have been 6 for 6,, and the last Twin was Puckett. Class move, thou. and I do agree partly that Gardy should have had #7 outta the game earlier,, but we fans pick and choose after the fact.

I didn't say the cycle was the greatest feat in baseball, but you think it's a worthless stat- which it isn't.

God forbid Delmon ever hits one, we won't hear the end of it for 3 years.

BTW- there have been more no-no's pitched than cycles hit in ML history, so if it is so stupid, worthless and easy- why doesn't it happen very often?

Id rather Delmon has a 2 HR 2 double night which while not more rare is still a better night than hitting for the cycle
