My housing addition lost power for 4 hours. a lot of power lines down all over wright county. the worst damage was a house fire in hanover caused by a lighting strike. it took 4 different fire departments to put it out. no hail around the monticello area.

Centerville/ Lino Lakes area had a LOT of rain, no hail though, winds peaking in the 80s I believe. Not sure on damage yet, none that I can see form my house. Hopefully not enough to have our roof redone for what might be the 3rd year in a row.

LOTS of rain and some pretty good winds for us in the St. Francis/Isanti area. No damage at home but a few trees in the area went down.

We went fishing yesterday and checked the radar at 2 pm. We knew we were gonna get wet when we started but it looked like we were in a soft spot and the rain would pass soon enough.

Well, it did and the fishing was fantastic! So fantastic that we didn't re-check the radar after the first system passed and by the time the big one got here - well, it was too late to scram out of there without getting the brunt of it. shocked

It was a Good Ol' Fashion "Caught with our pants down" situation as we called it. All was well though and now the event is just a new story.

Best wishes to those who did have damage and good luck with the repairs.

Was it confirmed that there was a tornado or are they sayin it was straight line winds?

Here in Hardwick north of Luverne we had some serious updrafts go through around 8:30 or so, then a little while later we heard about tornadic activity in your neck of the woods. We did not get squat for anything

i listened to most of the warnings via radioreferencedotcom and it sounded like a huge storm. They evacuated a fairground in or around st cloud not sure if that is the right place. The house fire in Hanover sounded like a bad situation to begin with. What do you (general term) do with those boats that are on the shore and or banging around like in the one picture? do you hope that you can retrieve and drive away or is the damage to them usually too bad to drive out? Just wondering. Glad all came out mostly unaffected.

They had 3 barges with cranes on them sorting the mess out, either tow them out or lift them out I assume.. I know it's sad to have happen but at least the up side is the lake will be calmer for awhile, guessing the storm took out or damaged 1/4 of the 3000+ docks on the lake. These were just pics from a small portion of the lake, I'm sure theres alot more.

where in nw iowa do you live? the pictures are truly amazing to me, it would seem that if i paid that much for a boat, simply tying it to a dock would not be sufficient for me. I understand the docks let go but seems that a lift might be more appropriate but i am a fire truck mechanic who lives in the desert. when we get straight winds, it just puts up a cloud of dust and dirt and then when it rains there is little hail and lots of mud falling from the sky. that will freak you out, driving a long and getting hit with mud drops. glad no one got hurt, what lake was that on? The sirens went off at the sherburne county fair, the announcers go dont worry that is not for us. Our group left and went back to a house about a block away. Soon as we got home the announcers were going nuts saying dont go to your cars go to the fire dept. Glad we left when we did. Lots of wind and over an inch of rain.
