Doesn't John Gordon call Twins games anymore? I don't listen to the games on the radio much, but I was listening to todays extra inning game. In my opinion, the announcer is pretty lame sounds blah-za. I enjoyed listening Gordon. Is it because the switch to 1500 from 830?

I heard a little of the game on the radio today, I think it was Dan Gladden & Jack Morris, don't know why Gordon wasn't there, but I'm not a fan of his-too much non-game chatter & he misses alot of the action.

I also think Gordo is slowly being phased out by Dazzle Dan Gladden. Gladden sucks, and add BlackJack Morris to the mix, it's down-right painfull to listen to the games. They are just a couple of old washed up jocks.

I can't even tell you how many times I've heard the following:

That ball is well hit....................(at least 10 seconds passes)...................it's off the wall .................................(maybe another three or four seconds)......he's safe at third.

It drives me nuts!

I'm not too impressed with the broadcast team either. Funny how they put together the best team in baseball (IMO) for TV and ended up with this for radio. Gordon is pretty good, but those other two...washed up jocks is right.

And how about: That ball is hit well....back...back...oh, he catches it in front of the warning track. mad

Gordon is fine. A few mistakes here and there just keep a guy on his toes listening.

There are a few jocks that can make the transition from player to broadcaster, but, sadly, Gladden isn't one of them. He has some interesting insight into the game, and I wouldn't mind having him on once in awhile, but he's just not cut out to be a profesional broadcaster. Hopefully the Twins come up with someone with a little more polish and profesionalism.

I may be a little biased because I had friend in college that was a big stoner and his voice was exactly like Gladdens'.

THIS! Drives me nuts as well! Heart starts pumping fists begin to raise, then spirits crushed, extreme let down sets in.

I actually like Gordon. Lazy Sunday afternoon drives back to reality down south. But I do agree with the comment above.

If you constantly go to games and frequently have a great view of the action, don't you think you'd develop a knack for what's going to clear the fence? Even if you initially understate a fence clearer, at least there isn't the let down.

Gordon is great. You're all pretty spoiled here in Minnesota, as most fans are really stuck with terrible announcers. Nobody is perfect but Gordon has a great voice. Case and point, my brother called me from Arizona last weekend. He was listening to the Twins/Brewers game over satellite radio and heard Gordon for the first time. He was surprised at how similar Gordon's voice was to Bob Uecker's voice. I've always felt the same way. I'd listen to Gordon call a game 365 days a year over some goofball like Paul Allen.

I still miss Ray Christiansen and Herb Carneal. Both were some of the best radio play by play callers in the counrty in thier prime. When I hear Ray's commericals or a flash back of Herb's calls is always reminds me of listening to games in the boat or the car with my Grandpa and Dad.

Gordon is slipping a little but the nasalgic tone of his voice buys him many points IMO.

Gladden has gotten better as the years have gone on. I hope he continues to improve. He's better as a color guy than a play by play voice.

I agree completely with this. He actually makes a pretty good color guy. Play by play? Not so much.

I love the broadcast team. Nothing better than working around the house, or sitting in the boat listening to a ball game. Gladden took some getting used to, but I don't mind him now at all now. Let's face it, Gordo is getting older and misspeaking is just part of it all.

It's actually kinda funny when you hear: "Here's the 0-2 pitch...It's high...Full count!"

Cracks me up.

Gladden is just fine if not above average doing color. play by play so-so.

I don't mind Gordon so much, but I can't stand his never-ending statistcal banter. I don't need to know what happened 2 years ago in Pawtucket on rehab. And meaningless stats to boot. I think he misses 1/2 the game and many calls due to the fact he can't deal with silence. Unlike his predessesor Mr. Carneal. He had the perfect timing and impeccable delivery for baseball. You could hear the fans, the crack if the bat, and you knew what was going on with so few words. The game came to him and then to us. Mr Carneal's words painted a picture..... "Reardon (or whoever), winds up and delivers.....

That was legendary stuff.

I get a kick out of John and Danny. They make a good duo and usually get me to roll with laughter at least once per game.

John: And they're going to stop play. There seems to be a squirrel on the field. Now I can't imagine it's very easy to catch a squirrel.

Danny: Well, it depends on how you wanna catch it, John.
