Carwin treated Brock like all of his other opponents, jump on them right away and pound them into a stoppage but Brock can take a punch or 20 and was smart to just cover up and weather the storm. I knew if Brock could get on top it would be game over but I did not see the submission coming. Good for him. He is a true legit champion and what, that was like only his 6th fight? He just keeps getting better but he needs to work on his boxing skills.

He definately took some good licks but did a decent job covering up. As the onslaught went on all I could think was please dont call it, ref. I wonder if it had been someone else and not the main event if the ref would have stepped in?

I wonder what was going through Brock's head first round, "holy S#!7" or "he's getting tired" as he said in the post fight interview.

Several times while watching the first round it looked like Brock would have been better off if he bent his knees and delivered some power with his legs. The same thing was mentioned of him when he tried out for the Vikes. Carwin was gassed after round 1. It was good to see Brock have a win via submission, it says a lot about his desire to improve and be the best.

The Lesnar fight was a trip! Long story short Lesnar got the living carp beat out of him in the 1st start to finish by Carwin and in the 2nd Lesnar got a hold of Carwins neck and choked him out.

We didn't see the whole card but the Chris Leben vs Yoshihiro Akiyama fight was a strange one also with Leben getting Yoshihiro to submit while Leben was on his back.

Long story short Lesnar got the living carp beat out of him in the 1st start to finish by Carwin

actually at the end of round 1 brock scrambled out, got up & actually threw the last few shots on carwin at the end.

i rewatched the fight several times. its a bit different if you look at it close. many of those shots were to brocks arms and brock was never really close to being out. he did move, was trying control carwins arms and did in spots & was pushing off etc it would of been a bad stoppage actually. he was defending even if it was ugly and wasn't in la la land. good on the ref for letting it go, brock weathered the storm and won.

he obviously got rocked but recovered and was able to scramble out and finished the round on his feet while throwing a knee and some punches. that right there shows why it would of been a bad stoppage. anotherwards when watching it live it looked worse in the moment vs rewatching it and seeing more of what was going on.

brock did what no other could do or possibly could of done by taking those shots, not getting ko'd to make it out of the 1st round to win by sub of all things.

for all the stand up brock has worked on with welch, it sure looked really bad. but the fight showed he can take shots from one of the heaviest hitters in the ufc and survive where others wouldn't have or haven't before. plus dealing with serious adversity and his ability to recover. no doubt hes got more work to do though. but still only his 6th fight.

Yeah I kept thinkin, "please don't stop it! please don't stop it!" But the ref did a good job in seeing that Brock was intelligently defending himself the entire time. I do think if it wasn't a title match it would of stood a greater chance of it being called. Brock getting worked over a little bit I think is only going to make him improve.

Brock needs to work on his stand up and working off his back.

Yeah I also think that Carwin punched himself right out of that fight. Brock took one heck of a beating, but came back in that second round and did what he needed to do. Once he took Carwin down and got the full mount, it was over. Way to go Brock! I would also LOVE to see a rematch. Though I still think Brock would win again!

John Bones Jones is the real deal and if Silva gets through Cael C. next week-end....he will probably be facing this kid in the near future and that should be interesting! I'd put my pesos on Bones Jones. He went through the Janitor last night like he wasn't even there.

Grebe - He looked good against a well experienced guy. I kinda wish the fight lasted longer though.

Jones and I are from the same town and went to the same HS about 10 years apart. I was in a local sports bar for the fight and there were a ton of people there. It was kinda cool to see a local boy in the mix. His brother got drafted by the ravens this past year I believe in the 2 or 3rd round. And his other brother is playing football at Syracuse on a full ride... I used to work with thier mom, real nice people...

Either Silva would have to move up in weight or Jones down for them to square off. I'd think the chances for Silva to move up are greater.

Yeah, but something will have to give, one comes up, or one goes down, they are close enough in weight? Who is he gonna fight Silva when he does Cael in? There is nobody left that could challange him? They would all have to be recycles?

The Silva - Sonnen fight was one of the best I've seen in a long time. Sonnen can talk all the talk he wants as far as I'm concerned, because he can walk it. Too bad about the ending.

I smell a rematch.

Jon Jones is rumored to be figting either Thiago Silva or Rich Franklin next. Forrest Griffin is also a possibility.

Chael Sonnen absolutely pounded Anderson Silva for over 4 rounds and then made one mistake and it was all over. After watching it, I couldnt believe what I just saw. Sonnen did better than Silva's last 11 opponents COMBINED. I now dont even think Silva is human. 4 rounds of getting whipped and not one drop of blood. none. Sonnen knew that that choke was going to be attempted, but he couldnt stop it anyway. sad. But it was a great card, great fights!
