Tom Walters, who works for Clam, sent me notice they are having a sale at the end of the month. Can I post the info here or better yet, somebody that is allowed to do so, give me their email and I'll send all the info so you can spread the word. Or maybe you guys in the know already are aware of it!

All I have to say is, WOW! Ridiculously great prices!

I got there at 9:50, doors opened at 10, and there were 100 people in line. I couldn’t believe it. Honestly, it was like Black Friday for guys. People literally sprinted to the Ice Armor jackets and bibs… needless to say they were gone immediately.

I got two fish houses, 3 pairs of gloves, boots, fishing line, LED lights and shirts for $220. Retail on all of it would have been over $800. I seriously felt like I just stole something!

THANKS CLAM!

There were a lot of good deals, but everything was pretty much wiped out within an hour. All the older model fish houses were all sold a few minutes after 10:00. There were a few of the newer models left. I showed up at 10:10 and was amazed how fast everything went. Too bad there were a bunch of hoarders that were grabbing multiple fish houses, 5 sets of ice armor bids/parks, dozens of fishing rods and gloves. I think they should have put a limit per customer to make others happy and also make the sale last through Saturday even though I know they want to get rid of it all. I noticed a lot of disappointed people showing up after everything was gone. I did manage to find some deals.

why is that sad?? That is just a smart shopper that can turn a deal into some extra cash!! Granted it would suck to show up and have everything gone but can you blame Clam as they just wanted to get rid of it and you can't blame the customer that showed up early and found alot of great deals and had the cash to pay for it.....hoarders more like smart shoppers!!!

I understand the smart shoppers/hoarders and making cash off of it all but still is disappointing. REI has a sale each year where they have tons of stuff super cheap throughout the store and the first 5-10 people in the door grab carts and run through the store putting in everything that's on clearance and grab all they can overfilling the carts and buy it all.. Just disappointing for those that really could use that gear at the price point it's at and enjoy it for years and years and aren't trying to make a buck off of a super sale or clearance sale but end up being 10 minutes behind those guys.

Disappointing or not, I believe the moral of the story is that the early bird gets the worm. I’m a firm believer that if you want something that bad you make time for it, or someone else will. I was there early, got stuff I wanted but missed out on other things I could have got if I was there even earlier. Next time.

is this something that is done every year????? anyone get an extra fip over style fish house??????????

I asked Clam when I was there and they said it’s not an annual thing. Last event was a few years ago. Sounds like it’s something they'll do again when they have demos, prototypes, returns and excessive inventories. Probably not next year.

Ozzie -

It's sad to me because IMO it is just selfish and greedy and I wasn't raised that way. As some other posters have said there might be some people out there who could really use the stuff but can't afford to pay the retail prices such as kids in high school or college that are interested in fishing. I agree they could have camped out all night long to try and be the first one in line to get a chance at a good deal but some quantity limits would have at least given more people a chance to score a good deal. Good for Clam to get rid of their excess inventory though.

I guess I just don't see it as greedy as the people buying the stuff are either going to be using or even selling it and making a little extra cash.....rather than calling them greedy or selfish I would say they are smart and thrifty!!! I would have loved to get there and get some great deals also but I am not sulking over the people that got there before me and spent the money to get the merchandise........oh and I was not raised to be a selfish and greedy person either but I was raised to not pout about others fortunes and luck!! and if you want something bad enough and don't get lucky and get in on the great deals at clam you just have to be thrifty and save a dollar here and there to get the things you really want.....I know I have!!!

I'm going to side with the thrifty buyers, being one myself. I wasn't as this Clam madness sale, but I was at the Minnesota Twins garage sale at the dome last fall and saw first hand people buying items by the 100's (Pennants, plastic construction hats, bobble heads, etc.) Like someone said the early bird gets the worm. Chances are even if these people resell it and make a profit, it is still sold below retail to the next buyer. A DEAL FOR EVERYONE REALLY - just not as good as the original buyer!

If people didn't like deals garage sales and black friday wouldn't exist! (There is a town this weekend that has 270 garage sales city-wide) I WILL BE THERE EARLY!!!!! - Last weekend I bought a mr. buddy heater at a garage sale for $20 and plan to sell it this fall/winter as I already have one! But I will turn around and use that profit on fishing gear at a local store keeping more money in the community! I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE BUYING EXTRA AND SELLING IT! Essentially EVERY store you buy something from is doing it. No business would be in business if they weren't making a profit! If you want something bad enough get there early and get it!

As long as you remember that May 15th is fishing opener and you may not get as many fisherman to come to your garage sale that weekend. Might have to give a good deal if someone comes looking for one!

I didn't get to the sale but saw on the web site they listed thermal caps for Voyagers. Is this the whole tent with the thermal cap or just the cap ??? If it is just the cap and someone has one they could part with I would be interested.

That's just what I need. I used the refletx last winter but am not impressed with the amount of bulk it creates when folded down. I am hoping cap would be less bulky. If anybody has an extra one please let me know.

I put one in my Scout and LOVE it. You might try giving customer service at Clam a call, and see if they have any left. I doubt they sold all of the ones they had....

Brad- what kind of one mans do you have?

A kenai that I added hyfax and travel cover to and a fish trap 1(same as a scout) with original travel cover that now has a brand new scout tent on it. the original tent was mouse chewed when I picked it up from a family friend. PM me with your email address if you are interested in one of them.

I also went to the Clam sale, but couldn't get there till around 1pm. Had I known it would have been that busy I would have left Grand Rapids at 4 am. I did buy one of their prototypes that none of the dealers were interested in. It is called the Dave Genz bak2bak, I don't have it assembled yet but hope to get it done in the near future. 60" long tub that flips out on both sides, making the whole unit around 15' long and around 36 wide. I was just looking for a one man flipover, but this was what they had. It is only around 30-40 pounds and will slide right into the back of my Ford Escape. No seats with it, but they threw in a set of rope lights with it, $100. And for an extra $5 I got a 60' long tray that has drink holders on both ends and foam rod holders in the middle. Plus a pair of Ice armor mittens for $10. All in all a good day. If I get tired fishing I can throw a pad in that 5 foot sled and take a nap. laugh

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
