Cubbies and White Sox Opening Day

Recommended Posts

Hey Geno,

Opening day, what a day, eh? I thought Big Z looked terrific right up until he had to throw the first pitch!!! I know you are a numbers man so I will leave it up to you to tell me what his ERA will be after giving up 8 runs and only getting out 4 batters.

As for the Sox, I was dissapointed in Buehrle, I mean what the heck, giving up three hits! The nerve of him. No runs but three hits, the next outing he might give up 4 hits. True he made a spectacular highlight reel defensive play by kicking a low line drive and then picking it up with his glove only and throwing it BETWEEN HIS LEGS behind him into the waiting glove of Paulie at first!!! But I got to get down on him for giving up so many hits and a walk to boot! Not good, not good indeed for my beloved Pale Hose!

Cheer up Geno, the Cubbies might just get Big Z off the hook yet for the loss....but that ERA will stick with him!

Big Z is the most over paid, under producing player in all of sports and naturally he plays for the Cubs. Never won ONE game in the postseason,, then again, the Cubs seem to struggle (or choke) in the postseason.

Here's to another year of Cubs futility and good times for the Cards, Twins and pale hose even the yankees (ever talk to a cub fan about winning the WS 27 times since the 1920's,, they look at you like your in a different galaxy). I love it when the Cubs lose,,, it's in the GAME!!!!

After watching that play again and again I would have to agree with you Pier. It was just amazing that after he kicked the ball he immediately went to where the ball was going and you could tell that he knew exactly what he had to do to get the ball to Konerko. Paulie said in an interview that he was just yelling loudly to Buerhle so he knew where he was in realation to the play. Then to scoop the ball with just your glove and toss it between your legs and then to have Paulie barehand it was truly amazing. I don't think they would have got the runner out if Paulie had tried to glove the ball, it had to be barehand. Amazing stuff on opening day, but a 54 ERA from the Big Z is pretty amazing too!!! Right Geno???

Aw come on Geno, you didn't even give me your best Cubbie quote....WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR!

Hey Geno, my aunt and uncle just went to the Legends dinner in Chicago with Ernie Banks last month. They got to meet Harold Ramis (nice tie in with your Sgt Hulka quote) and Bob Sirott as well. They had a good time, Ernie was in rare form!

Four words of wisdom boys....

Early Ripe Early Rotten!

Mark those words down.

Only the Twins can get out of a huge hole late in the season, but this year they will be in first from beginning to end. Always next year for you

stick a fork in the white sox

I fully realize it's April and the standings are almost meaningless when we project into September. But that statement has me in stitches when I think back to last August. I salute you SIR!
