Tunneau covers

Recommended Posts

Alright I just got my tax returns back and I need something to spend it on!...actually I'v been wanting a tunneau cover for a while now, just haven't had the $$. As I said, I've been looking for a while now and haven't deteremined what's a "good" and "bad" cover. I have a 2000 GMC Sierra with a 6'6" box, right now I have the plastic side bed rail covers, and I know I want a velco roll-up cover NOT the "Seal-n-Peel" or a snap-on. So for those of you who have/had a cover, what's your preference?

I've had two different pickups and bought Access Roll-Up covers for both of them. I don't have any complaints about them. The one on my new Toyota truck is the low-profile model and it works great. Keeps everything dry even when I run through a car wash. Hope this helps.

Instead of a roll up I bought a 3 section folding cover for my truck and cannot be any happier.

I had to replace the velcro on both my roll ups, at the end it was just a struggle to keep it sealed.

I saw the tri-fold at Fleet Farm on sale for $ 200 and tried it. It seals very well, it can be folded all the way to open 2/3 of the bed or get it completely off as quickly as you can, and stow it in the bed next to the cargo.

I had it for a year now and it had held very well especially trough heavy snow accumulation and the nasty blower/driers at the carwash.

I don't think I will buy roll ups anymore.

According to the salesman at cabela's all his friends were returning the covers they had for the Truxedo low profile. So that is what i bought a few months ago and it has been great. Since then my friend also bought the same one and he is happy too.

I have a truxport and like it very much. I like it because it sits on top of the rails and i can put my fish house under it and roll it over the house, and with the inside the rails ones they too low to cover my fish house.

I have a truxedo cover that is about seven months old. Really like it but am going back to toppers. So, if anyone wants a like new cover that fits a 03-07 chevy crew cab I'll let it go for $200.

I looked at all the different brands. I liked the quality off most of them. The most important feature for me was that I wanted to be able to use my stake pockets with the cover rails on the truck. I also wanted a low profile. Some of the rails cover the stake pockets and some do not. I made sure the cover I ordered had the supports underneath that would role up with the cover. I ended up ordering an Access cover. I ordered it on a Thursday and it was at my door the very next morning.

I went from a fiberglass cover on my old F-150 to a Truxedo roll-up velcro cover on my Ranger. It's been three years, it still fits and holds great, and hopefully continues to be a quality investment. It sounds like Access and Truxedo are both good, at least from the posts. Everyone is just saying that they like theirs but nobody has been able to offer a first hand comparison. I'd say that you're good either way.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
