Is that a bluefin or a yellowfin? Where and when did your brother get the fish? The ONLY thing I miss about living on the east coast is catching fish like that on a more regular basis. We sure do not have anything that pulls as hard as a tuna does here in the midwest.

If I can remember correctly I think it was a bluefin. He went out to boston with my cousin, I guess this is what they call a jumbo and the captin that took them fishing said he only catches about 1-3 of these a year.

Bluefins get up to about 13 feet and 1500 pounds. They are a blast to catch. It is the only fish I have ever hooked into and could not finish the fight alone. The largest I ever hooked and got to the boat was about 400 pounds and the season was closed so we had to let it go.

On that boat, it was a stand up fight with a rope tied around your waist. Another guy would hold the rope while you were hooked up. I think the captain was more worried about losing his Penn International rod and reel than he was about losing a customer since the rod and reel was worth $1000+.

Tuna are very cool fish, but I wouldn't mount any fish unless I had space to hang it:) I've wanted a marlin mount for years (and luckily have had lots of "candidates!) but just don't have the wll for it. Huge mounts do look out of place in many homes...I think I'll mount the next nice wahoo I

get...more like a big muskie size-wise but still a cool looking fish.
