yeah my boat sees a lot of time on the river, not so much on the lakes though with someone in the front seat or if I set my battery up there, it cuts through the waves just fine.

Just fine meaning it's loud and maybe a little painful, but we stay dry.

Hamms... I haven't changed much with the boat from fishinfey8. I am glad to note that it has seen a lot of time on the water this summer, nearly every-other day. Everything about it seems perfect for me. I even took it to an electric only lake today for trout and the boat was so light it worked great for hours with only a 30lb thrust minnkota. Before summer is over the trailer will be redone. Right now it is a tiltable style trailer, but I will be welding it into a one piece trailer. I am going to add fenders that are capable of being stepped on, submersible led light kit, new wheels, and some post guides for loading on my own at the river. I will probably also sand down and repaint any of the frame that isnt replaced. Nothing with the trailer really needs changing, but it will just be upgrades. Luckily I have some relatives that are willing to help me finish it in a weekend. When it is done I'll try to remember and post some pictures. As for the boat itself, the most I will have to do is maybe sand some spots down and touch up little nicks from trailering over the years. Eventually I may look into upgrading the motor, but for now the older 15 horse evinrude pushes the boat fine with 2 people and light gear. Everything elliot did in restoring the boat is amazing, and I couldn't have found a more perfect first boat.

I agree with you there and thanks for the update. Now I will be truthfull, I was hope you were hating the whole thing and wanting to sell smile... No I'm glad to hear you enjoy that nice setup. Looking for one now! I'm leaning towards a 16 ft I found with a 35 hp johnson on it. If I got a 14' I would want the widest deepest one possible. Length wouldn't bother me so much in fact it would fit in the garage better.:) Anyway great to hear and post some pics!

Hory- sounds like you have been enjoying the boat. I like the mods you have planned for the trailer. Any lunkers in the boat yet? I know i've caught alot of nice fish out of that rig. I'm glad it ended up with your family. It sounds like it will be used for a long time.

Hamms- it was tough to let go, but I found the right woman. The sale of the boat helped finance some bling, and that is the only circumstance in which I would've ever sold this rig. Boy oh boy I hope I get brownie points! Haha...i've already started looking for a new boat...my guess is that it will only take one summer of being boatless before I go crazy and buy a new boat. I guess I look at it this way, show the woman you care by giving up what you love to do most (for one summer), and use it as an excuse to get a bigger boat! My gf loves fishing so it won't be hard to convince her that we need a boat!

Happy for you fishinfey8! I would've done the same thing.....I think.jk now you can look for that 16' you want. I am close to picking up a 16' lund with a 25 or 30hp.... I am giving up the wheeler to generate the cash to get a different setup. I will end up with one just like what I want and I keep looking at the pics on here of your old rig and hory's new pride and joy for some reason just to torture myself until I get one! Anyway hope you are getting out on the water enough with some buddies. You deserve it after what you gave up smile Oh and cool she likes to get out! My wife just started going with me more and it's a blast! We just had our second child in march,Son is 2 in august, so it is kinda a nice get away for us. Good luck and post pics of your next project!

Corey20 How fast will your boat go with the 300

My best is 64.7, the boat was pretty empty at the time and one less battery up front. Fully rigged, 4 batteries, bow mount, gear, 2 guys....etc runs anwhere from 61-62. And yes that is GPS, the dream speedo reeds around 71 lol.

OK I finally got some pictures of my boat (Some before paint and some after) My boat is a '73 Crestliner powered with a mighty 6 horse Evinrude! Purchased boat and trailer for $700 and the motor was $200 bought with a different boat! The boat gets dirty and the red paint doesn't look nearly as good in pictures. The white paint on bottom looks really really good though. All of it done with spray paint. Still hope to go with a flat white on the inside, and paint up the trailer at some point!

One before the process of removing decals and sanding.

Another one before painting.

Outside painted - the red doesn't look great in the photos though.

Some of the inside - I also have a 3rd seat that I need a clamp for on the middle bench seat.

Thanks deitz, its a real change from the 97 alumacraft tiller I was running. Thing i am still getting used to are speed, 60 is reallly scary when your used to 35 timmed out, and fuel consumtion that v-6 really drinks it compared to my old 3 cylinder. that nitro really is a nice boat to fish out of, real stable, enough room for three guys throwing muskie baits, and low enough sides to kick rods overboard hahaha thank god it was shallow water.

Musky bug 85, Nice ride, you will get used to the dimensions and speed and soon you won't even think about it. Enjoy the boat

Dietz,

Sold my Triton to a friend without telling him there was no lift assist on the trolling motor. You guessed it, first time he put it in, right over the bow.

When i used it for the first time that was my first thought, everyone who fish out of this thing is going to walk out at some point this summer, all my buddies are used to tin boats, this is the first bass boat in the group. I really do love the boat, i was looking at Pumas for a really long time but decided i should start with something a little smaller first and make sure a bass boat is for me, and i could buy that nitro brand new with all the warrenty for the price of a late ninties early 2000 "premier" brand so it seemed like a no brainer for me.

Ive never done that one.. I have had the t-motor on to high and turned and threw myself over the side that way, but never putting it in.. Sounds like a new challenge for myself.

Mr.D....

Jack's mom wants to know how you get back in the boat after you "step out of it" or "turn too fast with the trolling motor"?

If it was on auto-pilot with the trolling motor, it would just keep going.

I'll stick to my deep V boats for these reasons. laugh

ahhh, hence why I have a Maxxum. Have to have your foot on the t-mot to have to go.. If you grab the big motor and step on the stabilizing fin and hit the up trim it semi lifts you back in the boat.. not sure how I know that. I will tell you this.. from my own knowledge. Former friends, whom are laughing so hard that they can no longer breathe are very, very, very little help if any.

And if you should ever do a face plant into 2 feet of water, and an old lady comes running out of her house to ask you if your ok, and laughs until she about wets herself, they are not a whole lot of help either.

Having the pedestall seat up front has saved me from swimming more than once!

I know all about using the tilt to get back into a boat! No friends saw it, but my two kids did! cry They were sworn, under penalty of tourture and death to never mention it to anyone!!

Now about having an old lady see your dive, and come out to check on you? I just don't have the words! grin
