Big Dave2
Hey Shack, take a look at the get-ups your Idols were wearing in that MY GENERATION video you posted. Look just as "rediculous" as any of the other pictures you posted, although I have to confess I don't know who any of them are.
PEATMOSS
The Who are certainly one of the greatest acts in rock history, but they really don't do their legacy any favors by putting on a show like that. Regardless of how talented they once were, 65 year olds just don't belong on the rock n roll stage anymore.
gregg52
ya not their best i remember after 9-11 paul mcartney put together a benfit deal on tv they were on there and IMO they stole the show that night !!lots of energy !!

Look just as "rediculous" as any of the other pictures you posted, although I have to confess I don't know who any of them are. I guess I do not idolize the Who (more of a Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin guy), but the Who was a true Idol back in the day. They worked their way up to Mega star status with out the help of Simon & a silver spoon The Who may look a little "ridiculous" in that My Generation video, but at least they where good and lasted more than a couple years. Heck they played the Super Bowl 44 half time while in their sixes . I honestly do not see any current popular group or artist being invited to play any large venue (like the SB) when they are in their sixties. I wonder if "Crunk" will be dead when Lil John is in his sixties!
propster
Springsteen was 59 last year. Or maybe he's not current or popular.
gregg52
theres no music that really stands the test of times like the 70's REAL ROCK & ROLL!!!!!!!!!

I am not a fan of hers but she must have some talent even if it is not for her Live singing as she did write or co-write every song on her current album and it did win her a couple grammy's and has sold millions of albums and sold out concerts!!! Not to bad for a 20 year old!!!!
LMITOUT
People don't even know what "talent" means anymore, and there is a difference between "popular" and "talented". There were some pretty good articles about her Grammy performance and people aren't holding their tongues anymore, well, people who actually understand "talent" anyway. Nobody can deny she's popular, but she sure as heck isn't talented. In fact, she's actually really horrible and my 6 year-old nephew could write those corny songs that sound like nursery rhymes. gregg52
well you better get your 6 yr old nephew going cuz i'm sure he and his parents would love the MILLIONS of $$$$$$$$$$I saw her on some show and she is a pretty smart young lady the world could use more of her weather in the star world or just regualar people on the streeti would think if you were such a expert on talent you should be managering a few taylor swifts..... rather than puttin silly banter on te net........lol
Shack
I hear ya Dave! The thang about Taylor Swift is she was all the rage back in late fall 08' and then winter of 08'-09'. She sings songs that connect with younger women and girls about "fairy tail" stuff that supposedly happens to teenagers. My wife thought Taylor Swift was all the rage back then. The problem is (I assume writing her own stuff) she has not found anything new to write about. Plus she has not released another album since. I give her credit for writing her own stuff, but other artists who write their own stuff, have flopped with more in their resume's. If Taylor wants to make the spot light in the feature, she has to change he song writing to something new/fresh. If my wife can say "I can not believe I listened to this" when "You Belong with Me" comes on now, when only a year ago it is what my wife played all the time, a change is needed for Taylor to work her way back in so my wife will purchase her next album. ozzie
EXACTLY!!!! THANK YOU gregg52!!Just cause you or even "experts" don't like her music does not mean she isn't talented......Can you sing and play guitar of songs you wrote in front of thousands of people???.....No cause if you could you would but you don't have that type of talent. (and I am sure neither does your 6 year old nephew sorry). Popular acts usually have talent in some shape or form otherwise they would not get signed to contracts to make money!! I hate new rap but I still would say they are talented in their own industry even if I could/can not stand to listen to it!!
LMITOUT
After reading the last few responses defending Swift, I stand by the comments that were posted earlier. Thanks for making my point. ozzie
That makes no sense at all as I thought the halftime show stunk and I have never purchased a thing of Taylor Swift yet the Who and Swift are talented......How would you make this millions of dollars off of me and others like me? Oh I forgot off the writing and singing talents of your 6 year old nephew.......LOL I am sorry I just had to!! LOL
LMITOUT
That's my point, if people are buying her "stuff", there is no reason they couldn't be suckered into buying other people's "stuff". Like I said, people don't know talent anymore so all you have to do is put someone that's likeable on stage and bingo, you just cashed in. If I were in the music business, more specifically a singer who could really sing, unlike Swift, I'd be livid that she's getting any accolades whatsoever for the product she puts out. But, as they say, there's a sucker born every minute and there are a lot of dumb people in this country so what are you gonna do about it! The no-talent hacks will continue to cash in as long as people keep giving them money.
gregg52
spose you could say the same bout willie nelson and dylan if people are buying her "stuff", there is no reason they couldn't be suckered into buying other people's "stuff". theres alots of reasons if it was that easy EVERYBODY WOULD BE DOING it !!!!!!!!! ozzie
every generation does not like the next generations music and they always state that the newer generation is just noise or they have no talent.....to each their own I guess!!! PGE-Hound
I thought they started out alittle rough but pulled it through in the end. Though, they could have started the show with something other than Pinball Wizard. For me, 25 yrs young, I have to say that my generation of music blows and I can't stand it. Give me Led, The Doors, Floyd, CCR or AC/DC etc.. any day of the week. I saw CSNY two years ago and was suprised how Neil Young can still bash on that guitar. Very good point gregg52, people have a hard time acknowledging talent if they don't like or understand it. I don't like Taylor Swift and dislike rap music even more but i can't deney that they have at least some talent. Music just doesn't cross generational boundaries like fishing, hunting, and sports I guess.
Harmonica Bear
ya i like the 70's of course i'm 57 i like music music that moves you Right on. If it moves you, whether through the music, the singing, the lyrics, the look, whatever, if it moves "you", that's all that matters in my book.IMO The Who are legends, but the half time show wasn't exactly legendary.
