fishersofmen
Williams promises more cheap shots and dirty plays in attempt to make up for lack of talent on defense.........INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Colts are still keeping their mouths shut.On Tuesday, Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams promised his players would put a couple of "remember-me shots" on four-time league MVP Peyton Manning in next week's Super Bowl. Williams made his comments on WGFX, a Tennessee radio station.Indy doesn't seem to care, responding the same way it has with other big-talkers this season -- giving them the silent treatment.Coach Jim Caldwell said the Colts couldn't control what other teams say and that opponents are welcome to use whatever motivational tools they deem necessary. He said Manning, to his knowledge, had not responded to Williams' comments.
PierBridge
Did he promise more cheap-shots like the thread title would mis-lead us to believe? Or did he say what has been quoted him as saying?

we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Rick Posted January 30, 2010 we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted January 30, 2010 The quarterback is treating like a baby in the NFL.You gotta be kidding me. I think QBs take some nasty hits. Sure seems a lot of them get injured every year. I'd like to see you stand in their while some of those big, fast and nasty D-linemen were bearing down on YOU. I think YOU would be the one crying.
zepman
The NFL needs to protect their starting Qb's...otherwise it would be too boring to watch with a bunch of TJacks trying to move the ball. The defenses are just too good and fast to not protect them like they do...someone would literally get killed.
lawdog
Williams went on to say more in that interview including how he hopes at some point Manning can't get up and play after the hits. The guy is a cheap shot officianado and should be banned from the NFL. Warner two weeks ago, Favre last week and Manning now. This team is trying to injure and take out all the best QB's in the league. PATHETIC!!!
BlueLundFishrman
If they have such a "lack of talent" on defense, why aren't they being blocked?
zepman
He's willing to take a 15 yard penalty in order to physically injure the opposing q-back...the intent of his words is what makes him dangerous and pathetic at the same time. A defensense coach can always send enough players to be unblockable...sounds like he's willing to give up a potential touchdown in order to get to Manning and take him out. He's done the same thing throughout the play-offs...I doubt the refs will "eat" their whistle in this one. Hope he gets his arse handed to him. zamboni
Only way the Saints have a chance in this game is to injure Peyton on the very first play. But in case they haven't been paying attention since 98- he DOESN'T get hurt. So good luck with that
foulpole18
He's just saying what all defenses think. If the star players get hit and don't get up that's a bonus for the defense. Anyway you would have to get near Peyton first.

Steve Foss
I want the Saints to win because they are NFC, they have never gotten this far before, and they are the underdogs. Williams can flap his lips all he wants. Gotta hand it to the Colts that his blather has been water off a duck's back.
JAfish
Thanks Saints, the Colts allready have the best O-line, so now they will be double prepared to handle the d-line pressure. After the first late hit on Farve with no flag, Nafau Tahi or Jimmy K. should have been ordered to take out one of those D-ends at the knees. They take out our guy, we take out your guy. That's what the Colts will be prepared to do.
kitchy
talk about beaten something to deathI know, I'm tired of hearing about it. It's almost as bad as the Favre saga. Hopefully we'll get to hear about his retirement indescision for the next few months.

bcoleman
I read this morning that the NFL handed out multiple fines on the Saints for their cheap and late hits on Farve last week. That game is tough enough without cheap shots.
kitchy
I read this morning that the NFL handed out multiple fines on the Saints for their cheap and late hits on Farve last week. That game is tough enough without cheap shots. 3 Saints players were fined a total of $30k. Jared Allen was fined $50k all by himself in the regular season for bad hits. I know, I know...it's OK if the Vikes do it.
kitchy
BTW, did any of you see the hit that Edwards put on Brees in OT? Yep, pretty much picked him up and drove him to the ground. For those of you that still have this gem on your DVR, go to about 10:45 in OT. As long as you're at it, watch the low hit on Favre again. I can easily see why this wasn't called. The guy was engaged with Loadholt and was blocked down. Not sure why the refs are now appeasing you guys and saying it should've been called. BTW, the hit on Warner was not necessary but still legal. I've seen plenty of hits like that. Fans typically get pumped up about a hit like that...unless it's against your team or it was done by a team that just beat you in the championship. Hypocrisy has run rampant around here.
kitchy
Oh, I almost forgot. Jared got fined another $25k for a hit on Rodgers. Kinda sounds like the Vikes play some "dirty ball".
BlueLundFishrman
Don't forget Brett Farve was fined $10k for an illegal crackback. He's a dirty player too. Maybe he can suit up for the Saints defense next year??
