The only place I have ever been and didn't get to fish but wanted to was the Red River in Manitoba. I had my fishing stuff and I could see the river but couldn't go fish. Probably the most frustrating thing ever.

here is a list of the species i have caught in different states

florida: ladyfish, spanish mackerel, leatherjack, gulf kingfish, white grunt, gray snapper (i might be forgeting a few)

south dakota: rainbow trout, creek chub

wisconsin: panfish (just about every one you could think of), northern pike, largemouth bass, creek chub, brown trout

minnesota: everything else

i need to fish in more states frown

i have a trip planned to go to devils lake, north dakota for next summer. we'll be targeting walleye, pike, and maybe yellow perch
