Too much moisture

I heat my portable with a mr heater but i get ALOT of moisture condensating and dripping in the house. Can i solve this problem with a kerosene heater?

You can solve it with an insulated cover for your portable.

I have heard that a lot of the guys with Reflectix don't have that problem. Do a search and there are a ton of threads about it.

I have reflectix in my Yukon and really havn't had much of a problem. Reflectix is the best idea in the world. Got it from this site last year and saved me from buying a new insulated house.

No heater will fix this, as you warm the heater the moisture off the ice will still cause condensation. I use reflectix on the ceiling and so far so goo, sides and back still get frosted up though when its cold and windy like today. I do run a fan on my ceiling supports that helps but was low on gas today and no snow to pack in with to get it toasty toasty to thaw it out.

acctually I think the kerosene heater would be worse for you any way like was stated insul cover should be the answer

and the overall smell from the kerosene i think would get to you is a tight quarters.

Reflectix is a plastic bubble wrap layered in between foil.

Really does the job and easy to put in any fish house no matter what kind!

Menards carries Reflectix. 48" width rolls should have enough for 2 good sized 2 person shacks. I like duct tape for taping pieces together. Install between poles & canvas, and cut holes so velcro straps can get though. Pretty simple install.

yeah i was thinkin the same thing. this is the whole concept of y they came out with the new thermal canvas. and they hold heat better. but it is fact propane gives off carbon dioxide + water vapor so it may accelerate the condensation process but, i was just at my buddies and he fired up his kerosene heater for me and Yup it stinks! cant be breathin that i'll just have to accept the occasional drip and deal with it=with more beer of course.

Speaking of a fans, I've been looking on different threads and haven't seen much. What type of fan do you run, or where do you find a small fan? I found one that runs on AA batteries at Scheels, but I have a spare 12V battery that I would like to hook up to a small fan in my portable.

Clam makes a LED light/Fan combo that runs on DD batteries. It has worked great for me so far this season. It has reduced moisture in my shack.

Computer fans work well. I picked a couple up from Northern for like 5 bucks each... But if you happen to have an old computer sitting around, you could steal the fan from it. They are 12 volt and draw very little juice.

I use a small quiet 12 volt fan I got from Graingers. I thik I only paid like $7.00. Great investment. I use it for the portable and Dropdown.

I have a bunch of fans that I've taken out of old Mac computers. I have two hooked up to a 12v battery in my Yukon. They certainly don't create a wind tunnel, but provide enough air to circulate. Try going to a computer fix-it store. Lots of times they have some just sitting around.
