Refilling propane ?

I like to refill at a bulk station over the swap out preferably a bait shop set up to do so. I also believe out of bulk storage we get cleaner burning over the swap out.

Support the local bait shop. I know things add up but we must support those who support us.

I have a Little left in my 10lb tank, but may also bring the 20lb up to Pike's at the same time. Plus Get my minnows for fishing. I really got some waxies, but looking to try minnows for walleye and northerns. I made some new quik strike rigs, on 20lb wire, spinnerblade, bead and 2 hooks only 3inches apart.

I just filled my 20lb tank @ our local U-haul store. Guy told me....after many many times filling there....that they give $1/gallon discount on propane if its used for off highway vehicles (forklift etc)...hate to be cheap, but all of my propane is now being used for an off highway vehicle!

Forklifts typically use a different style tank (the tank mounts on its side and they do not have to be OPD compliant and they usually have a different fitting to attatch to the vehicle). A standard twenty pound tank for a grill looks nothing like it. If your bringing in a standard tank and there giving you the discount they are being generous or they don't know what they are doing! I hope they are being generous!!

I know thats what this gentleman was doing. Good guy, buy from him all the time....just lookin to be nice during the "giving" season! haha. Humph. I didn't know all that complicated stuff about the 2 tank styles. Hope i continue to see the guy throughout the hard water season though. My 30 lb tank holds 9 gallons, and it goes pretty quick in my permanent house!

Ya the price really depends on who fills it. Up in ely they used to give me a farm discount (not really sure what that meant but it was cheaper). They knew I was in college and didn't have a lot of money so it did help since I was refiling once a week.

Now I get all my tanks filled at vados in spring lake park. They have always been good to me and I try to make some of my bigger purchases there too (my vexilar came from there). Its tough for small buisinesses right now and I figure they actually see the benifit from stuff like that. Plus I like looking around in there while they fill the tanks.

A lot of the time them 20 lb tanks have less than 20 lbs when filled. Check the label on a Blue Rino!

The weight on the label is the tear weight of the tank (the weight of the tank empty) If there selling them as 20 lb refills than there is close to 20 lbs in them.

Liquefied propane gas cylinders can hold 20 pounds of propane. Due to safety regulations, tanks typically fill to 17 or 18 pounds to remain safe for use.

A 20 pound tank holds 20 pounds worth of liquid. This is 80% of the tanks maximum capacity and considered a full tank. They are not required to be filled to any less for "safety regulations".

IDK???

That is just a quote from the law offices of Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro who have filed the class action suit.

You would think the law office would have there facts straight before they made statements?

Personally I think this is some people who didn't understand what was going on and instead of chalking it up to experience and moving on they hired some jump on the bandwagon lawyers who really don't know whats going on and all they see is $$$$$$$$.

If they're only putting in 17 pounds than have they misrepresented themselves?

Is there any proof that there is only 15 pounds in them?

Does anybody weigh there exchange tank before they use them?

I'm not picking on anybody or saying anyone is right or wrong! I'm just asking questions or stating what I know.

I do have the person filling mine weigh it so I can see what was really left in mine to give me an idea on how much I'm using on certain days Etc. They don't have any problem doing this anywhere I have had it refilled. At least you can get an idea what you are paying for. One Gal told me they sell little gages you put on the tank that are pretty reliable. Anybody ever used one of these?
