Remote Car Starter Recomendation

Can anyone recomend a good remote car starter for a 2007 Ford Fusion? Thanks. Will have it professionally installed.

I have a Valet remote starter in a 1998 Ford F-150 works great.

Have had it in my truck for about 6 or 7 years now.

I think any remote starter would do the job, and it is great when it is below zero to start the vehicle and let it run.

I have a friend that does it for a living and is great at it and does side jobs for cheaper than any store.

Just put compustar in my wifes 08 van. great 2 way system. lcd remote is great. shows if car is open or locked. shows if car starts. lots of options. was $525 installed. dont remember model but has 3000 foot range

I would have the dealership install a Ford one. Check for pricing at a few differant dealers. Sometimes $100-$200 diff for the same one.

I also have a Valet remote starter in my '01 F150. Works greatdeer hunting. Set the heat/defrost and fan on high when you shut it off at night and just push the button and let it run for 8 minutes in the morning.

Are there any out there that activate the rear defrost?

Depending on the remote start, there should be a couple accessory outputs for doing things like turning on lights, heaters ect. So it depends on which one you get, but there are some out there that should.

Most upper end ones have a output that turns on when it is started, You need to tie a relay to the output and then to the rear defrost wire.

I would not recommend getting one unless it is a factory unit. I had a aftermarket one in a truck I bought. worked great and I really liked it until it almost started my truck on fire. The thing all of a sudden decided to start and not release the started so the motor was turning the starter really fast. IT did this with no intent to start it at all. That made it get the starter lead glowing red hot and melted all the coating off of them and melted anything close to them. I came out to a running truck in a cloud of smoke that would not restart after turning off. That is until I replaced the starter and several cables/wires.

One thing to keep in mind is no matter how good the unit is it's only as good as the flunkie installing it. Check out the place before you buy, look at some of their work in progress. I don't let just anyone mess around with wiring in my trucks. And no blue scotch-lock connectors either.

I am looking at getting an Autostart as2461tw-fm for the wife's rave. Is it good or are they junk???? Cost about $450 installed.

They are not bad cause they are made by Directed who makes viper but the problem is the remote is pretty cheap and you will be replacing it at least once a year. Viper, Clifford , or Python. Thats all i would say to get. I have had experience with other brands like Compustar and AutoPage and the VIPER is the BEST in my eyes. Looking into a Viper 5900. Very Good

I found two different places not too far away that will sell and install for a total of $259.00. One uses Excaliber and the other is using Compustar...

i put a compustar in my wifes van, she loves it. has a nice 2 way lcd screen that is easy to read. i like it that i can "start" it when its parked and running, pull the keys, and leave it run. will show vehicle temp, has a countdown timer so you can see how long its been running. about $525 installed

I payed the $259 + tax to get one installed in the kids car. i think it was a 1500 or 2500 ft range. Will let ya know how it works when she gets it put in.
