DTro
Maybe we convince Superman or Batman to come out of retirement We have the luxury of having 2 starting RB’s. Chester could start for any team in the league. How cool is that? I just find it comical that the team is 10-1 and people are still complaining about a few fumbles by the best RB in the league. The grass is always greener isn’t it?
Jim Uran
I think our run blocking is TERRIBLE this year. They aren't opening any holes for AP or Chester, if we ran blocked as well as we pass blocked AP would have 1500 Yards. (and maybe 2 less fumbles )

croixflats
If it was not AP technique then what was Aikman trying to say after all he did start that conversation of with something like" why would a coach accept a running back to fumble as many times as AP does and goes on to say his coach would not. 1500 yards in a season means diddly if that player coughs up the ball twice a game and the team loses because of it.Just the same with a QB throwing 400 yards and throwing 4 interceptions you are likely not going to win that game against a good team. Did we not lose the only game this year because of turn overs.

FISHINGURU
he only averages a fumble every other game....and out of those we only lose the ball half of the time.how many games has he lost us? how many games has he won us?i understand the fumbling concern but get real when u run like that its gonna happen...when word gets out that u fumble you have the whole opposing team trying to rip the ball every single play....most of his fumbles is when he's being held up by a gang as other people are rippin the ball out.anyone remember tiki barbers fumbling problems? coughlin arrived at the giants and taught tiki to hold the ball verticle and not horizontal and tiki went from losing 12 fumbles in 2 years to only fumbling 2 times a season. gr8icefishinmind
The way he runs the ball has nothing to do with it....every running back gets hit but most backs try to cover the ball up with both hands or at least try to carry the ball close to their body!! SkunkedAgain
It's funny, some of the greatest players have the worst form. When it works, don't mess with the system. Favre has always had terrible mechanics too. They will work with AP to cut down on the fumbles but it shouldn't be too much of a concern. Part of gaining all of the extra yards is keeping those arms swinging and evading tacklers. The bruisers cover up the ball because they know that they can't evade the tacklers. The best backs know exactly when to get that second hand on the ball. Peterson is hasn't even hit his prime yet. Give him time...

Coach1310
Yeah... he fumbles, but I'll take him anyday, fumbles or no fumbles.... Anybody can run through a big hole and get 5 yards.... Peterson can fly through a crack... run over a linebacker....stiff arm a safety and run away from a D-back all in one run... I'll put up with a few fumbles... eyehead
Part of gaining all of the extra yards is keeping those arms swinging and evading tacklers. Exactly!!!!! This is why AP is the best back in the league......it's also the reason he coughs it up from time to time.Example: Try running as fast as you can with one arm tucked to your side. Then do it with both your arms pumping....Your gonna move alot faster with both your arms pumping. To even think about trying to change his technique is laughable. The guy is a beast!!!!! gr8icefishinmind
Why would you not change his technique in how he carries the ball to make him less of a fumbler??? I agree the guy is a BEAST and by far my favorite back to watch, you all are missing the point!! Why should he not try to fix his fumbling problem cause if he does fix it, he basically will have NOTHING bad with his game!! It's part of wanting to be the BEST, if i had that problem i would do everything possible to fix it!!
eyehead
So..gr8icefishinmind...How would you recommend Adrian Peterson carry the ball then????
croixflats
Maybe he is afraid of tucking the ball in and protecting the ball. Maybe he thnks he will keep making left turns if he does. Its a no brainer COVER THE BALL in conjested areas. The way he is going now he will be rememered as the guy that could have been great. The guy seems to be a great guy and all but the luv fest aint doing him no favors. I would take Robert Smith over AP right now.
gr8icefishinmind
Pretty basic and taught at a very young age that you craddle the ball and keep it close to your body. I love the stiff arms he throws, they are nasty, but you can still throw a stiff arm and keep the ball close instead of keeping it away from your body where you have no control over it!! I would take a dependable back that makes 1200 to 1500, his final season and was considered at his peak, yards or more a year and carries the ball 476 times without a fumble. Fumble 9 total times and losing 5 of those in his career over a back that puts the ball on the field on regular basis and makes 1500 yards a year any time.6800 hundred yards in 8 years you say hundreds have achieved this. Who are they? Man the luv fest builders are are thick.

gr8icefishinmind
I would like to hear their reason cause if i was a coach i certainly wouldn't want him fumbling the ball 8-10 times a season! I have no problem with him holding the ball away from his body if he is in the open and givin her hell.....but when a defender is coming close it should be pretty obvious that you would protect the ball wouldn't ya???
