Mauer wins MVP!

In my opinion the Twins would only be hurting the team if they sign him for 6 years, 20 million. I say offer him a 4 year 18 million per year, if he doesn't take it, trade him and get everything you can for him now. Sure it would be nice to lock him up, and keep him here for 6 years, but at what cost? The Twins wont spend 100 million a year, so by spending that much on one position, would just hurt the team.

First off, very well deserved. He had a monster season and it's great to see it recognized.

I hope we can keep him and it sounds like winning is as important as money to him, if we can show him we're serious about surrounding him with talent that will help. I think the JJ Hardy trade was a step in the right direction, they're friends and Joe sounds happy to have him here. Hard to know what's going through his head though. IMHO from a public relations standpoint, they can't afford to let him go, the backlash from the fans would be 100 times worse than when Santana or Hunter left.

Kyle, welcome to FM!

I absolutely agree about the backlask. It wouldn't be good! But if Joe wants to win, that may be the main reason he signs with the Yanks or someone else. The Twins can't put enough talent around him with his current salary, how would they possibly accomplish this if he were taking up 1/4 or more of the total payroll?

He was from Seattle.

Again congrats to Mauer again, well deserved.

I wanna know where are all the people that were getting down on him at the beginning of the year about being injured, sure they have nothing to say now...

Someone from Detroilet

Nope, someone that covers the Mariners.

I will not consider Mauer a MVP until he can play a day game at catcher after a night game.

I have a feeling he will sign with the Twins, 20 million for 6 years. Joe loves playing in MN in front of his friends and family, what more can a person ask for. I don't think he is a greety player, he has his comfort zone and it's here in MN is whole career.

Mauer caught the 10th most innings in MLB this year (after missing 25 games) and caught the 4th most innings last year. So are you saying a catcher should never win the MVP as it appears he is getting out there just like any other catcher, yet performs at a higher level. MVP seems reasonable to me.

You have a little more than a feeling he'll sign here. You actually know that he wll sign with the Twins for sure.

I would have to disagree a bit on whether he plays his hole career here or not...but yes Kow WILL resign with the Twins in-spite of the doomsdayers are saying...

I don't know for sure it's just my gut feeling. From getting to know his grandparents over the last 3 years and the couple times I have met Joe's parents and 2 brothers I just don't see him leaving all that behind.
