Eskimo Augers

Walleye #1

Recommended Posts

I have a 3 year old Stingray....Love it! Always starts on the 1st or 2nd pull, and literally screams through the ice. Easy maintenance...uses a Champion CJ-8 plug. Customer service in Wisc. was great..had to order a new rubber strap to keep blade cover on...people were really nice, helpful. Both my cousins in St.Paul have the Stingray, and they pound the H**l out of 'em. Have a friend with a 2 year old Mako...loves it. I think one of the factors is the price..( I paid $219.00 for mine), plus the Viper engine is really great, so far.

I have owned 2 Eskimo's. One is 15 years old. Never had it in the shop. Only changed the blades on it.

I gave that Auger to my Brother when I bought a Z71 Shark by Eskimo,It cuts a 10" hole faster then anyone's 8"

I think it is the most underrated ice fishing accessory that is marketed!

It is funny that you don't hear more about them. I use to use my in-law's Eskimo, and seemed to perferm just fine.

They need to do something about improving the "relevancy" results when searching for Eskimo products on the internet. Their site always requires a little work to find when searching for them on the internet. Also seems like they don't put as much into marketing their augers via TV, pro staff, etc then SM & Jiffy (at least in Minnesota).

speaking of eskimo and marketing.... I just sent them an email about not being able to find the quickfish3. Could barely find eskimo in any stores aroudn st cloud and the one store that carried them FF only had the sled style. I ended up buying the Clam hub style shack because frankly I was sick of looking for eskimo

I also run a Stingray. It is definitely not the fastest auger out there, but it is by far the most reliable one I've seen or used. I have friends that use Strike Masters and Iffy's and none of them come close to the Eskimo as far as reliability.

Cons:

-Not the fastest

-Can be tough to find parts in stores (But are just a mouse click away)

Pros:

- Won't break the bank

- Light weight

- Extremely reliable (starts within 3 pulls...even after storage)

I have a Z51 and I really like it. It starts and cuts great. The only problem I have had with it was broken recoil and I am pretty dang sure my son just plain pulled it to the end too hard. Cuz I never had an issue til he got his hands on it. Couple $$ and it back to working fine.

I have an older 8" Eskimo and it runs and cuts great, 2 or 3 pulls and it's running. I think it's about 12 years old, or some where in there. Been offered more than what I paid for it last year, but it runs to good. It would cost to much to replace it and I wouldn't gain anything.
