OK here we got again I think I type something like this up about once a week lately....lol.....I have the Eskimo Quickfish III. I beleive I will be starting my fourth winter with it and it is still going strong. By fourth winter I mean heavy use too..not just a couple times each year but 40-60 times a winter season...no lie I keep track of fishing outings!!! This think really is quite impressive. I have been on Red lake a few times with it when the wind was gusting over 40mph and we couldnt see houses 50 feet from us. We had it staked down and banked up well and the canvas barely moved. As long as you use the supplied ropes to stake out the sides and bank it up well (If its not brutly cold I will use slush from the holes otherwise just lots of fluff) But, often times it isnt very windy when I am out and down even have to worry about staking or roping it off. Just through some snow on top of the flaps and its good to go. If its windy and you need to set it up alone, pop one side open, stake a corner then finish opening er up. Otheriwse when I am with someone we just hang on, open it up, then stake it down.

Good luck and keep yer stick on da ice!

a good friend of mine has the eskimo quickfish 3 also and i love it. it is an awesome fishhouse for the price! like spearing machine said, as long as you stake it down, you are good. the only problem is trying to stake it down in the wind when you are alone, which can be next to impossible from what i hear.

hard? yes. impossible? no.

I love mine, tons of room. I did have side cave in when out with 50mph gusts and it broke a pole. It was not staked down with the tie downs, but it was staked in the interior corners.I fixed it with some duct tape and a quick tie down to the auger and kept it like that for a month before replacing the pole.

Theres was a stand at the Ice fishing show last year that sold some pretty slick ice anchors, a company out of maplewood if I remember correctly. I hope he's there again this year as I ran out of funds before I found his stand. It was in the last row a few stalls down from the guy selling all the furs. I also use 6 and 8 foot tubes filled with sand to use for banking instead of snow. I'll post the names when my brain starts working again, it almost 4 am and the minds kind of sluggish right now. 0414.. Just had a flash of activity..Soderblooms.. Snakors for the tubes.

I use a screw-in tree step for deer hunting when I know it will be windy. once screwed-in I wrap the tow rope around it. Once had a 4x8 perm out on Clearwater on early clear ice break loose in about 40 mph winds and I was in my trap downwind from it, well

I heard it sliding at me so I braced my feet against the hole I was fishing. It bounced off my trap and slid down the lake about

500 yards till it stopped on the big island. Was a long walk back into the wind.
