LMITOUT
and he's the sole reason Favre is here...Are you sure you didn't mean he STOLE the season since Favre is here?Without Favre, Chilly's kick-a$$ offense is a figment of his imagination and he and his lapdog, T-Jack, are sent packing at the end of this year.I bet Brett and Deanna got a nice dinner, complements of Childress, the night he signed the contract extension. If it wasn't for #4, he and T-Jack are unemployed, period.

I would like a solid example of Childress being a great coach or making a great decision (on the field, during a pressure packed NFL game)? ANYFISH2
wow, here I am defending chilli, good grief. A solid example of childress being a GOOD coach is that he has put together a very talented team and a good set of coaches to get his system in place. He is still lacking in some game time decisions but I hope for the fans sake that will get better in time, it already has improved. Please note I don't know if any of us said he is a GREAT coach, just worthy of an extension.
BrdHunter01
I didn't say anything about being a great coach all the time. Just one example again, ON THE FIELD PLEASE! Its great he can put a great team together and draft the right crew, but that just means he should be upstairs in the box, not out on the field making bone-head decisions....I'm still waiting for that example of Childress making a great coaching decision ON THE FIELD... LMMFAO....everyone knows where chilly and junkson would be at the end of this year except for maybe 2 or 3 people on this site....i doubt anyone on here thinks chilly is god. BrdHunter01
If we all knew where Chilli would be at the end of this year, with T-Junk, why would he deserve this extension? I believe our man Childress threw all his cards on T-Junk... How did that turn out? And now that we have the privilege of getting Farve he deserves this extension? ANYFISH2
OK, this is enough chilli love for me, I think I'm done after this! 8-1 so far, must be making some good decision out there. We blame chilli when he has screwed up calls and give all the credit to players when things work well, logic tells me there is a better middle ground here somwhere. As far as T-jack, we will never know how he would have performed this year, but we can all agree chilli made a good choice in getting Farve here. I still don't like the guy but he has done what he has needed to up to this point.
FISHINGURU
thats just it...he realized junkson is a piestain and did what it took to get a winning qb here...he went and got 2 qb's so we wouldn't have to watch that eye sore anymore.a head coaches job is way more then just calling a couple plays...even the best coaches out there make some dumb play calls...last i looked we had an offensive coordinator named bevell i'm sure he has his hands in the play calling.we got some mean players in the draft and by trade under chilly....we are about to be 9-1 and win the division again...what else do you want? he should of called a run instead of a pass a few times?his only failure is junkson...which i can easily see why people would hate him for that...thats why people wanted him fired....we had the worse starting qb in the league and what we thought was a lame offense and a moron coach...although it was debated for a long time it was the lousy qb play which now we know is the truth.we can just hope and pray that chilly and zigy keep up with their ways and do something about our qb situation when the time comes...when favre retires and junkson steps on the field as our starter i'm sure you will hear the fire chilly chants loud and clear...he knows it...zigy knows it...everyone knows it wether they admit it or not. riverrat56
On a side note, there should have been a clause in the contract extention that Chilly needs to shave off his cave man beard...
harvey lee
I hope this season goes a long ways because when T-Junk takes over, it won't be at all like this season. We have seen in the past how well he plays.Farve and company makes Chili look good. How good did our Chili hero look the last few?Only time will tell but I would guess that Chilli and T-Junk could sink the ship.
fishersofmen
chili grew on me...i think he deserves it this time. first thing he did that started to win me over is when him and zigy went out and got jared...a player i wanted us to get in the worse way...he went and gathered all the info he could, talked to jared and the people closest to jared and gave him a chance, so we pulled the trigger. the next thing he did that i thought was awesome is when he personally went down and did the same kind of scouting and pulled the trigger for percy...that was sweet. then best of all is when he admitted to himself and the fans that junkson wasn't ready to lead a championship caliber team so we went out and got favre. the players never complain about him and it seems the team never even blinks under controversy...after the media and the whole nation made it out to be how us signing favre late was just horrible and the team could fall apart....blah blah blah. under him we've made a pretty bad team into a really good team and we are about to be 9-1. i love the team and we are built to win...a new coach coming in would partly dismantle what we got and try to build for their style. i think our offense is one of the best in the league...its so nice to have a qb that can run it! we all debated for years is it the play calling or is it the qb....take a peek at our record, stats, points per game, ect, seems to be pretty clear to me!! SKOL This one's for you fishinguru. It would appear your deep love for Childress has taken a turn for the worse. To think less than one year ago he "won you over" with all of his great skills and "coaching style". Must not have been true love. Better luck next time. FISHINGURU
Glad to see you like to research me so hard, must be pretty bored to have to go through my old posts until you can find something to try and burn me on. Me and Mikey must do it for ya aye?? Keep your leather collars and whips in the drawer big guy!! I did think Chili deserved it at the time, when was that middle of last season? Since your so bored go find my Chili posts before that point and time. See what I thought about him and Junkson.Who wouldn't like their coach when he goes out and gets Jared, Percy, and Favre, I think I was most happy at the time that I didn't have to watch him and his pet Junkson run our offense. Now after having 12 men in a huddle after a timeout in the final seconds of a Championship game, not addressing any of our offseason needs, giving away 3rd round picks, trading players we need because they aren't "his guy" reguardless of performance, and getting totally owned everygame this season. It's a business, no coach deserves a job after doing them things. None of it changes your man lust for Me and Mikey either!!YAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWN
greebs
wow, what a difference a year makes. last year at this time what fishing guru posted then was pretty much what a lot of people were thinking. Right now just about every paragraph to that post is the complete opposite for this team. Other than the Percy paragraph, all those positives have been negative this year. And percy got to spend enough time with moss during his short time here that he might turn out to be somebody we don't eventually want too. LMITOUT
wow, what a difference a year makes. A year? How about a week? After the AZ win you guys had me convinced I should already be staking out my spot on the Super Bowl parade route in downtown Minneapolis. I figure I should have a good shot at winning a foot race to my spot with all the fans sporting boot casts from jumping on and off the bandwagon.I believe the #1 definition of Vikings' fan is 'fickle', but 'pathetic' came in a close second. FISHINGURU
I still like Favre, Percy, Jared, Moss. I've just really never liked Chilly or Junkson, I figured Chilly deserved a chance to be a permanent head coach, he had his chance and ruined it. Look what happened to Wade Phillips and he hasn't done nearly as much harm to his football team as Chilly has done to ours.
Dave S
Look what happened to Wade Phillips and he hasn't done nearly as much harm to his football team as Chilly has done to ours. I agree with this. No matter if Chilly gets fired now, at the end of the season, or next year, Zygi still has to pay him.Wouldn't it make more sense to fire him now and start correcting the issues this team has than to suffer through another season of controversy and incompetence?
greebs
Gotta think that chilly will get the axe this week but if not this week then he will be here until year end. Would not be surprised to see favre gone as well this week. it's officially rebuilding mode from here on out and they would be doing him and the team a favor to ask him to hang the cleats up immediately. At least if he doesn't finish out the season, a few other qb's will pass him in ints so that he doesn't have to go out leading the league in int's. not how he envisioned ending his career but whether it's injury or age or a combination of both, he might be the worst starting qb in the league right now and don't see how he could possibly go out with any kind of a bang anymore.
