Outfitter17
I entered the season hoping Brett would bring us 2 extra wins that we wouldn't have gotten with sage or T junkson, but 6 games into the season I think he has already pulled out 3 for us. Where do you guys think we would be 6 games into the season without him?
Jim Uran
3-3 or 2-4.... and the Jackson fans would be looking for a new bandwagon to jump on.. you know who you are.
SkunkedAgain
I don't know where they'll end up, but the MNF crew had some great observations last night. #1 is that the Vikings run defense hasn't been as stout as previous seasons. #2 The Vikings long-range strategy seems to be upside down right now. Instead of running the ball with AP, letting the defense shut down other teams, and Favre doing what's necessary to get wins; Favre is playing all out and winning the games with AP and the defense are after-thoughts.I'm with them 100% when they said that Favre can't continue at this pace, with miraculous victories and OT games. He's 40 years old and has lost steam at season's end for the past 5 or 6 years. The Vikes and Favre look good now, but Chilly needs to return to his original plan and keep Favre rested for the end of the season.Another interesting stat from Sunday was that Favre was statistically better last season with the Jets through this point, although barely. So essentially both seasons he started off red hot (same as 2007 as well). We'll see if the cool off happens again. To answer your question, I don't see the Vikings at 6-0 without Favre. He has clearly won games that nobody else on the roster would have done. I'd say 4-2 or 3-3 without Favre. The Steelers and Giants (maybe Bengels) are the last remaining hard games on the Viking schedule.
bassNspear
i think we would be 3-3. He has saved us in at least three games this year
machohorn
We will never know!, but I doubt we would be 6-0 now. One more point to ponder, late in the game you know #4 is calling the plays, Do you think Chilly would let junkman do that?
glenn57
1 and 5 or 2 and 4 at best.
Shack
TJ QB=4-2, if not 5 or 6 Sage= 2-4 or worse
Mullet Guy
T-Jack we would be 2-4 at best. Favre isn't doing all the work. Did you forget that Peterson rushed for over 140yds on Sunday? Defense held up until the 4th and then tried to give the game away. I think the team as a whole is doing well just need to shore up at the end of the game. nofishfisherman
I'm guessing with T-Jack or Sage we'd probably be 3-3 or 4-2. We'd have lost the San Fran game and against Baltimore for sure but I'm not sure about the packer game.Anyone could have beaten Cleveland, St. Louis and Detroit. And as for Favre holding up over the season. He's didn't do much in the first 2 wins so probably didn't tax his body too badly and I've also heard that Chilly keeps his throws pretty limited during practice each week. Sounds like he does just enough to keep the chemistry with the WR's and then the other 2 qbs take over. Hopefully that will help in keeping him strong down the stretch. Steve Foss
I think you'd be 3-3. SkunedAgain, Favre didn't cool down at the end of last season, he was injured. Just pointing out the difference. Although whether he cools down or gets injured is a moot difference in terms of late-season usefulness.
SkunkedAgain
Good clarification Steve. Although I've doubted Favre's injury in terms of it's true effect. There wasn't one analyst or broadcaster who thought that Favre had an injury. He was making bad decisions and bad throws down the stretch. I'm sure that the biceps played into it, but I think the media has made the injury more of a scapegoat. In '07 he was saved by the emergence of Ryan Grant. Although we all know what Favre did in the championship game. The years before that he had been trailing off too. That was part of the analysis that ultimately led the Packers to let him go. He was still performing in the regular season but faltering at the end. That, and of course the retirement/un-retirement reason, are what led them to choose Rodgers instead. Steve Foss
Yeah, I'll buy everything you said there. I think minus the injury Favre would have done much better toward the end last year, but there's no denying he's been a better regular season than post season QB the last few years. Born2Fish
I really don't buy into him not having an injury. He DID get surgery done did he not? Or was that in itself a hoax? I really don't look much into what analysts or broadcasters say about anyone. We all saw just how much ESPN knew about this whole Favre situation this year...And ESPN is supposed to be the "Leader in Sports". The only person who TRULY knows if the injury played a part in him faltering down the stretch is him. But I say give the guy a break already. He is playing football in his 40's, and at a pretty high level right now. He has the Vikings at 6-0, and rolling. 2 4th quarter comebacks this year, a high scoring offense, and not that many interceptions. We can all say what we want about who beat who, and if the win was against a "good" team. Fact of the matter is, any team can win come Sunday, it's who wants it more and who comes to play. And this season the Vikings have come to play.
Jim Uran
Everyone is just looking for excuses to pat themselves on the back at the end of the year... Don't buy into it, I'm sure they'll be glad when they find out they're wrong, but it gets awful nauseating hearing all of the Vikes bashers, and negative nelly's. They'll jump on the wagon soon enough.

blue_healer_guy
Realistically, we are 4-2 with Farve.
riverrat56
So "realistically" must mean if you look at the game and not the final score?Turns out, only one really matters though and that is the final score. Farve has lead us to a 6-0 start and won those two supposed losses in your mind for us by being a pretty dang good QB.
Surface Tension
I could ask the same question, where would we be without, AP, Rice, Shiancoe, Allen, and so on. Take anyone of those away and we might not be sitting on 6-0, Or would we?
harvey lee
With any of the top 4-5 players missing we may be off the radar.Farve is just a piece of the puzzle, a big piece but only one.

I truly believe he is the "missing" piece we have been looking for since Childress got here, and Culpepper had his glory days.
PierBridge
Easily 4-2 or even 5-1 wouldn't have surprised me with the progress and sharpness T-Jack was/is playing with...3-3 or 4-2 with Sage if he hadn't been demolished in the QB competition between himself and T-Jack!Fortunately Favre is here and T-Jack is ready to step in if something bad happens to him!Go vikes!
