Neighbor_guy
...But I am bored with it. I dozed off at the end of the race yesterday. Last weeks race did nothing for me. I enjoy the short tracks, so I hope Martinsville is a decent race... With Jimmy and Chad poised to win this thing going away, and Mark and Tony just barely hanging on, I just find myself boored with it.... I get it, they are good. Likely the best driver/crew chief ever in nascar, and I think Chad could make any driver a champion (even jr.), but is this kind of dynasty good for NASCAR? I have been a diehard fan since I sat in the livingroom listening to my dad yell at the tv when Bill and Rusty and Sr. battled it out in the 80's. With 5 weeks to go I should be excited..... Is it wrong for me to wish that Jimmy blows an engine next week, and gets in the "big one" at Dega? At least that would make the points race close and give everyone else a shot at the cup. This is not an "everyone hates a winner" type rant. I can respect them for what they do and accomplish. I just look forward to when they become the Dallas Cowboys of Nascar..... every dynasty has to cromble......
harvey lee
If it were not fpr my fantasy league picks, I would not even bother to watch NASCAR at all.Its been that way for me since Sr died.As far as Jimmy and Chad goes, there was also a time when Jeff G & Ray E were just as good and were winning everything. If Chad and Jimmy split, Jimmy will not be that dominate.
JollyT
When I was a kid there was that Petty guy that seemed to win everything. Still love those old Mopars!
Jeremy airjer W
I fall asleep watching every race. Its a running joke. As soon as the race is on my wife yells out nap time! If I complain that I'm tired the wife tells me to turn on the race and take a nap. Saturday night the wife had a friend over. she said if I fell asleep during the race she was changing the channel! It wasn't easy but for the most part I saw the whole race!!

harvey lee
HaHa. Not even the Buschboy can make it exciting. Oh ya thats right, he did not make the chase.
tunrevir
Yeah, to bad for Montoya this past race. I think he would have interjected some excitement in the chase. I'm not ready to let the fat lady sing on this championship just yet. 1-2 miscues, blown tire, bumper cars, an aero mishap on pitrow can change the championship for everyone. I would also add, that after watching this team go a couple laps down and change a carberator on the fly earlier this year and racing back into the top 10................other teams need to step it up. Yogi said it best,"It ain't over till its over". Come on Martin, Montoya, Gordo, Stewart, get it done. No excuses, no looking back, just get it done. I am with Harv on this though, I would have lost interest except for following my fantasy teams. Good luck out ther folks!Tunrevir~
candiru
Went to bed with about 25 to go. I did not watch much of it at all.
harvey lee
I would love to see Jimmy get beat but it seems that the 48 team can come back from any issue almost.I'm cheering for Martin. Too bad with the restart and how Gordo started it out. That was a tough hit on both Mark nad Montoya.
jwhjr
I'm also mainly paying attention because of my fantasy team. Not much for excitement in the races anymore.
Uncle Bill
HaHa. Not even the Buschboy can make it exciting. Oh ya thats right, he did not make the chase. Not taking issue with you Harv, but when those that did not make "the chase" are told to keep outta the way and not to race the leaders ??What kind of race is that ?? harvey lee
Who tells the non chasers to stay out of the way?I'm sure I don't hear or read everything but that one is a new one.
Uncle Bill
I'm not privy to Lil Bill and Robin Pemberton's conversations with crew and drivers, but I'll bet if a non-chase driver took out a chase driver you would hear about it pretty darn quick. harvey lee
I agree one might hear about it but I question anyone is telling the non chase drivers they cannot race for a win. Its one thing to race for a win and another to take a guy out for a win.I personally have not heard one peep from anyone or read that they are being told that. I doubt that they would advertise something like that as it would be bad for the sport.
gregg52
ya the 48 is stinkin up the show thats for sure i think this hes won like 5 outa the last 6 at martinsville i dont think the 24 was quite this dominant martin just cant catch a break first he couldnt beat the 3 then the 24 came along and now the 48 thing bout the 48 is when will it stop if these guys stay together he may break and set some big time records
harvey lee
If Jimmy and Chad stay together, its going to be a long fun ride for the both of them. They are an awesome team.
jbell1981
If it were not fpr my fantasy league picks, I would not even bother to watch NASCAR at all.I even gave up doing that. I haven't watched even part of a race in months. I have just completely lost all interest.
Neighbor_guy
On TWIN last night on speed Jimmy Spencer flat out said, "This kind of domination/dynasty is bad for NASCAR, but they are playing by the rules and until someone else steps up and picks their game up to that level, they will continue to win championships year after year" Chad came back at him with something to the effect of how they are inside the rules and he has never nor would he ever tell a driver to lay down. Along with some flap about all it takes is one wreak or blown engine and they could loose out. They are at the top of the game, and they know it..... If you have the attitude going into the season that you are going to win the championship, someone has to take it from you. If you go in hopping to do well, and contend, that is all you will do.... LMITOUT
Big money ruined NASCAR. Yep. But I believe the biggest dagger has been the COT. Horrible decision by NASCAR (one of many) and the Nationwide racing is much better to watch on a weekly basis. I'd even prefer to watch the Trucks as they put on a REAL show when they're on the track and the drivers are there to win and will do pretty much anything to get the trophy. Period. As far as the non-Chase drivers staying out of the way, I think they do as an "unwritten rule" and it has made the Chase a joke. Last week Logano was passing Gordon in the final laps (and appeared to be doing it handily) and then all of a sudden Gordon went by him to get those extra 5 points on the final lap. The week or two before Kesolowski was told to watch out racing around the Chase drivers. Shortly after that, Montoya, a Chase driver, body slammed Kesolowski who was just motoring along making no trouble! ???? Do as I say, and not as I do I guess....They, the Chase drivers, are practically given a free pass in these last 10 weeks and it's made a mockery of racing. Look at how many of the Chase drivers finish in the top 12 every week during the Chase. Are they finishing that well because they are the best of the best? Not a chance. The rest of the drivers just don't want to be the one on the front page of Monday's paper saying that they ruined so-and-so's chance to win the title so they tip toe around and try to go for that coveted 13th position on Sunday while the Chasers run for positions 1-12. JollyT
It's the Chase format that has made NASCAR boring. The regular season doesn't really matter anymore other than to get in the chase. Then, only 12 drivers matter. So, 31 are just tooling around unless they actually have a car good enough to win. All in an attempt to make NASCAR like football or basketball. Which is what they have now, a sport you only have to watch the last 30 seconds of a game (race) and the end of the playoffs (chase). Better yet, just catch the highlights, which to most casual fans are the wrecks, on Sportcenter!
harvey lee
I have to agree with LMitout that the COT racing has been a big flop. Very boring to say the least.
gregg52
spencer is a wind bag as far i'm concerned but i agree the 48 hasta hurt tv ratings and fans in the stands specially if he wins again this week good things the vikes got farve to cold to fish need something fun to watch on sunday
trolloni
I agree it isnt very entertaining since they started this whole chase thing ,the other 31 teams my as well pack it in , or better yet take everybody off the track and just let that 88 car ride around then theyll all be happy !!!it is a joke only good race is Daytona , trucks are way more entertaining lots of passin and wrecks!!no follow the leader [PoorWordUsage].
