59x29 caught on Vermillion

I have never seen a fish or shot a buck of state record caliber but, sometimes I think some magazines get involved and they'll buy the rights to some photos and the story. So there can be better pics out there. Who knows what this will do for the business of the lodge and the guide (if guided)? Atleast he might get a free replica out of it. Man, I would have loved to been in that boat just to see it.

...Don't take it for granted. The first thing I do in my boat is teach others how to use my camera...

Judging by your avatar you should do a better job teaching wink

Nice 'ski, I too think the fish looks smaller than expected and Im not saying its not legit or anything. I think people (myself included) come into these threads to see an awesome pic of a fish that looks like it eats little children only to be disapointed by a bad pic or one that doesnt have the angles to make a fish look massive or do it justice.

Tough pic to even try and judge but you can tell its big; so all one can do is take the fishermans and resorts word and congrat's to a nice fish. I to have had smaller fish look larger in pics and vice versa. A friend I troll with on LOTW can make the same length fish look at least 2" longer and much fattier than if I held it. He's got the camera angles down without shoving the fish out.

I just hope it doesn't turn into a trend... I was half thinking of making a thread of my own-

Check out this *65" I caught!!!

6174_519312417945_135400772_30927302_272

the tail was super long. *trust me.

*joke

If your reply is a joke - it's not funny.

Congrats to the fisherman who caught the beautiful musky - lots of guts to be out in that weather and I like the pic. He get a thumbs up from me.

Bronze you need to practice better facial expressions. Next year that thing will be 66 when you get it, and you dont want that look on the cover of every forum and paper do you?

A great catch, i dont care how big it is. I like to see big fish pics. Obviously some people are getting frustrated that every time one of these supper tankers is said to be caught, the pic is horrible and half the fish isnt photoed. I just cant believe people can be so bad at getting pics. I have a couple 40lbers caught alone and i still managed decent pics. But like said some people dont care about pics. Good for them, great CPR.

For me they are going to be inspiration, and fable like. Until i can get my own. Keeps you going, even into this weather.

Here's another shot of the fish.

58-inch-musky-012.jpg

Here's a little snippet from the story.

To give a little background about the guys that caught the fish..both are very experienced musky fisherman…and have about 70 years combined fishing and are true sportsman dedicated to catch and release. He boated a 56.5 musky on Eagle Lake in Canada a few years back. That fish also had a 29 inch girth…he released it .

From my point of view, it seems for the large part everyone one this board is awesome when it comes to putting the fish first and making sure theres a good release and everything else. I notice when a new guy/gal asks questions almost always the first post in response is about making sure of a quick release. And this is even for small, more common fish. Yet when a rare big fish, that we all dream about that is probably more dependent on a good quick release to survive is caught, a lot of guys say they would have taken a couple hundred pics. Do people like going against the grain or is there the general idea that I'm missing that its ok if the big fish don't survive as much just because they're big? As long as you get your hero shot? Why the difference in big to small? I'd think it would go the other way if someone feels the need for nice pics it'd be the smaller fish before the big ones. I don't think I'd even take a fish that size out of the water

Out of bordum and nothing else (not to challenge this pic) i replicated the hold he has on this fish versus his body. On me starting near the top of my head and ending in the middle of my shin.I think i am standing up a little straighter than him.

My fish would be 54-55 inches max and girth is hard to do but i came up with 25-26", as i hug my pillow.

I am 6-1 220lbs. I cant wait to get mine this weekend.

What a waste of time, i could have made it to the landing in the amount of time that took.

Great fish. Thats the lodge that I stay at every year. Great lodge.

Think about it. We spend all this time talking about how we wish there was better pics.

I am sure that the angler is quit disappointed with the pics as well. Im sure he wishes he had a better pic too.

Okay I am entitiled to my opinion so here it is. I am sick of these terrible pics and people expecting there not to be grief! You just caught a 59 or 60 or whatever it is and you cant seem to get a better pic. whats the other guy or two doing when you have the tape on it! take a pic there! what about flippin the camera on that first pic. BINGO, full fish! I mean come on that is a god like fish and thats all the better you can do. How long does it really take to snap off pictures on todays digital cameras. There are no excuses if you ask me. I have got better pics with my cell phone by myself. Im not saying dont claim whatever size you are claiming, even though my opinion is the size never seems to match up, but dont expect people to not give you s%$& when you dont provide good evidence.

haha- good point. I had a rough time trying to set up the camera and hold onto the net so the fish didn't swim off with it. And she was a lot bigger than I expected, I mean 65" is a lot to hold onto..( I kid I kid)

Moving on.. that second picture is a much better photograph to help with this story. Easy to tell that the fish was a beast in the first picture, but at least they have the whole thing in the second one. Blurry or not it's an absolute chunk. I apologize for not congratulating them in my earlier posts, 58 or 59 or whatever-great fish. I'm wondering if any release shots exist?

I love all the arm chair experts. As far as what any of you would do if you caught a fish like that, good for you! A lot of you guys are fishing lakes that have zero chance to catch a fish that big. So, I'm thinking your chances are slim.

Not everyone has a digital camera. You guys don't know squat about this story.

I just saw the 2nd photo for the first time. I think what impresses me the most is the girth of that fish. I love seeing fish that are thick from tail to nose. She's a chunker alright. Congrat's to the anglers for a quick CPR.

As for the photos, it all comes down to the person taking the image. For all we know it could have been an SLR in full manual mode that was operated by someone with no experience with ISO, shutter speed etc. To be honest, it's very easy to screw up photos on a camera you've never used before. It would be even easier to screw up a photo when a buddy just caught a fish of a lifetime and your weak in the knees just looking at it. At the end of the day, who gives a hoot about what some guys on a forum say about the photos. The angler knows he caught it and will never forget it. If your into the sport just to get photos of big fish to brag about on some forum...It might be time to rethink your priorities.

The best thing about threads like this is that we all learn something.

What did we learn?

Make sure your fishing partner is familiar with your camera or vis versa before you hit the water. Dont over look this or you will end up loosing alot of sleep over Sh*ty pics or your fish of a life time.
