Smallest ice house?

Investing in quality cold weather outerwear is also an option. After buying a good suit, I found myself using a shelter less and less.

Especially if you are the mobile type.

yea but personally i like to keep the fishing action to myself. throw a few in a bucket or on the ice and ull have everyone and their brother creeping closer and closer

I just got my fishtrap scout, plenty small enough for my pontiac vibe. I looked on Craig's list for a long time until I found the right deal and I am glad I put in the time. I have fished in a pack shack a few times, great little light weight, not so great in the wind when there isn't enough snow to bank up around the edges, and usually I have seen them thrown on a sled anyway....

typically I have gone with the lightest approach possible with no portable or anything, but I think in terms of all around usefulness the small portable (fishtrap scout in may case) is going to greatly simplify my fishing, actually take up less space in my small vehicle than buckets, packs etc, and really help me more efficiently fish more waters

I second the suit idea.I'm now looking at getting an artic Armor suit, after fishing in carhartts and getting wet knees.Tis time to upgrade suits. Bought the clam thermal house last year but i do alot of hole hopping did'nt use much. Now might use even less if the suit is all that its talked up to be. There are alot of ways to keep people from seeing if your catching fish unless your fishing on the edge of a big group to start.

The Fish Trap Scout fits in the trunk of my Honda Civic.

I would like to see that. A Vibe I can believe, since it is basically a station wagon/crossover/small van, but a car, I would have to see. I have a Scout, and a Bonneville, and there's no way.

Is there a portable that can fit in the trunk or back seat of a small car? Looking for any ideas..Thanks for any help!

The suit, you should have that anyway, and then the packshack for that little extra. HT has a knockoff, with a bit different zipper pattern. I like the original just fine. You can also get a small enough sled to go right in the backseat with it and still haveroom back there for your bucket and a hand auger; so you really don't have to carry anything. A chunk of scrap carpet or foam carpet padding for under your boots helps too.

A Frabill Solo (48" L x 45"W x 28"H) $349, or the Frabill 6112 Recon might fit too (50" by 30" by 15") $200..it really depends on the car.

The new Frabill 2 man POP-UP the 6000 Frontier most certainly will fit (8" x 8" x 43") $179.00. A Pack Shack would easily fit in a car $99.00.

I'd throw the clam 2600 on the ski rack of the Honda Prelude and it worked out great. Not as good as throwing the Otter Lodge or Cabin in the back of the Tundra, but the ski rack did work! It also left the trunk open for the auger, shovel buckets etc.

I got one of these it works great it even works in the wind just be sure to anchor it down and tie your auger to it on the windy side if the wind is really blowing

my buddy has this same ice house and it is awesome! it folds down to the size of a foldable lawn chair and is probably the smallest portable i have ever seen. nonetheless, it still fishes 3 guys easy, 4 is do able.

I have an Eskmo Quick Fish 3. Similar ones are just as good if not better but the same type of design.

I would not get the Quick Fish 2 or similar.. The Quick Fish 3 is nicer size wize for 2 and not much heavier or longer when in the pack.

To put up by yourself:

Find where wind is coming from... Drill holes where you'd want em. put the Quick Fish sort of up and go inside and screw in the ice pin in the corner up wind to keep the up wind corner down... Then while inside push out on the walls and ceiling.

I usually just put down another ice screw or two.. If real windy then more.

I'd get a 3 man pop up. The Eskmo one I have I like but that isn't the real point I'm trying to make... More on the 3 man pop up is all
