WOW!! Great summation of the year's results. Thanks for everything, Darren. The contest just keeps getting better every year and the competition gets tougher. I guess I can chase sturgeon for a few weeks and then take some time off.

Thanks again, Darren. Job well done.

Steve

Thanks to everyone involed in this contest I had a really great time on the river. Along with meeting new people along the way this was by far the best fishing contest that I have ever been involed in. The jokes and laughter were my favorite part of this. There were a lot of LOL moments in front of my computer and on a sandbar or in the boat.Speacial thanks to Darren and Brain for all their hard wark for this. You guys Rock!! hope to see you on the river next year for the 2010 KTOC

Again congrats to All the winners and yea Ed do you really need another rod thats a dumb question because you can never have enough rods in the boat wink

I guess "hibernate" may have been a little severe.

I could hunt some birds, or walleyes, or sturgeon........

A guy has got to just change gears thats all.

Last night we boated 5 fish including a 25 pound flat on a bobber with a very large bait underneath it. What a great way to end the season.

In the last couple weeks I've thrown the bobber out 5 times.....been hit four of those 5 and boated 2 flats. I think i gotta get me some more bobbers. Thanks to Rushing for getting me hooked on a new technique........just what I needed.

Maybe a KOTC branded bobber for next year eh? laugh

The LOL moment last night was when John say, “uh guys, I think I’m going nutz…….where is my bobber?” So the three of us spend the next 15 seconds scanning the water for a larger than pop can size object floating on the water. Should be obvious right? Wrong.

“I don’t see it, do you see it, nope I don’t see it, where is it, is that it, nope, where did you cast, did it come off………thinks it’s under?” laugh

Thanks for the opportunity to do this! It was a lot of fun and I can't believe I won! I figured I'd get bumped out of first place right away after all the big cats I witnessed caught this year on the Red. Then, when the spawn hit, I figured it was just a matter of time until the Fall frog bite was on and I'd drop down a few pegs.

Who'da thunk it?

Anyway, it was a ton of fun! Congrats to Ed for winning the rod!

Well it appears as if there might be a "clerical" error on my part that could effect the eventual outcome. I am going to lock this one down until I get this cleared up.

Stay tuned.....

Well as hard as it was to do for me, I had to award the 5th King of the Channels spot to uppdacreek (hard because I hate that I made a mistake).

Per the KOTC tiebreaker rules, a tie goes to the person with the biggest fish between the two. In 5th place SteveD and uppdacreek were tied with 157pts each. Tony had the biggest fish so the title rightly goes to him. Congrats Tony!!

I truly apologize for the mistake. frown The way the spreadsheet displays the green, it will only take the top 5 (even if a tie) and then display them alphabetically. I totally missed that one and I feel bad about it.

Big tip of the cap to SteveD, he is actually the one that pointed it out to me a while ago, and if that isn't sportsmanship, I don't know what else is.

Thanks Steve for your honesty and understanding. If that is not the epitome of deserved honorable mention, I don't know what is.

That, and the channel on the panfish pole was great too.

Big thanks to Dtro and Aanderud for throwing this event and maintaining it; good job guys.

Thanks to all the fellows in this contest, because if it wouldnt have been for you I would have talked myself into a few more "empty memories" sitting on the couch instead of out on the river listening to coyotes, owls, and the like, and just taking it all in and truely enjoying life.

The only drawback in I found in the contest, and this says more about me than the contest itself is I should have appreciated more of my catch this year. There were times this season where I hooked into some nicer fish, that I would catch myself frowning upon because it wasnt an "upgrade". That wouldnt have happened years prior, but this is the 1st such contest I have been in that ran so long.....definitely a marathon.

What a year. I want to thank the guys for working on this. It made the fishing year much more interesting to say the least. I had the fish to put me in first at least a dozen times but being the net man doesn't count here at KOTC, just being in the green is all that counts anyhow.

2010 will be a great year. Only 7 months to wait now.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
