Scott K
Wow, it is awfully quiet in here after another win. The Viking's lead the the division and they are undefeated! Did anyone watch the game? I am thinking with the team we have, I could be QB and win games, I haven't seen anything from Favre to say he is bringing anything to this club as far as a passing game. As long as they win, that is all that matters to me. Go Vikes!
TR21
In Favre's defense the o line stunk yesterday for protection. It seemed he had people draped all over him and still completed 90% of his passes. This is based on me just watching highlights as I can't bring myself to be inside on a weekend like it was especially as good as fishing has been. harvey lee
In regards to the passing game, Farve did have a great day in passing percentage in regards to completions I thought. I think the Vikes have a way to go yet as they always seem to play down to the teams that are not that good. Their strength seems to be very good as the first two games they have dominated in the second half even though again they were playing teams that are not expected to be contenders.I don't believe that their game plan is for the longer passing game as they use more screen plays and the short passing game. The part I like about Farve is he is a bit better with not throwing a pass when he should not. Thats all just expierence.I do believe that the team will also continue to only get better as the year goes on. They will need to get use to Farve's count. With a younger QB playing with less expierence, you could see some questionable passes thrown that he should have just ate to save the turnovers.I guess time will be the deciding factor as to how well they will gell as a team. Two wins on the road is a great start for the Vikes with a new QB. Are there better out there in the QB position, you bet there are but with our running game, Farve should fit the bill.
MUSKY18
Haven't seen anything from Favre? 21 for 23 with 2 touchdowns and a passer rating of 115.3? I'd say that is head and tails much better than TJack. Same as last week....CONSISTENCY!! Maybe he isn't as feared as he once was, but if you doubt him, he will make teams pay sooner or later. Heck, he doesn't need to do much with AP running at will. He will be there when called upon, just wait and see!!!!!
TR21
Speaking of AP, did you see the hits he delivered on 2 plays when the defender came in low? Strictly old school, he just punished those tacklers.
zamboni
As a Harvin fantasy owner, I would like to see him in there just a tad more often, say, every down!! I am happy though- 2 games, 2 tds for Percy and just hope there is alot more to come as the year goes on.As far as Brett, he was brought in to do one thing and that is NOT screw-up. I am sure he knows instead of forcing bad throws he is going to tuck the ball and take a sack, as we seen yesterday. He is the perfect fit for us right now, and I am glad he is here. Shack
Yep, 4WE is such a troll 155 yards with two TDs and no interceptions? I guess he did not run a couple TD's in the red zone himself. You could say he is just playing as to be expected I guess for what he is. Beside his consecutive starts in the NFL, I though I heard he broke another record in the Vikes organization.??? walleyes12
wandering, what are you expectations from Favre? He had a great game, managed the game, got us key 3rd down conversions, 2 tds, no picks. Are you looking for big yardage games? its not going to happen.
slabchaser
agreed the big yardage games will not happen in chilli's offense. brett had a great game even though our monsters on the o-line were getting owned. ANYONE SEE THE BLOCK THAT FAVRE THREW FOR AP? That is about as good a block as you will see from a QB and it opened it up and let AP rip off a nice run. Scott K
I guess I didn't mean to come off saying he was doing bad, he has done well. I would just like to see a couple deep passes completed, and I would think that would widen the field more. If he is only throwing for 5 yards, the defenders will adjust to that, and that just bunches everyone up off the line. Come on this is Brett Favre, the chance taker, I am used to seeing 60 yard air balls thrown down field, I want to see a couple of them per game. I think what I was getting at, besides the troll factor, was if he is only throwing 5 yard passes, I think T-Jack and Sage could do that! We didn;t spend 12 million on a 5 yard passer! JMO! slabchaser
i think that with our offense it would be possible for deffenses to adjust to what were doing but then that could be the nail in the coffin and brett could start shelling them. Jim Uran
How about a couple deep passes attempted?? I think Berrrian will be 100% soon and we will see him stretch the field. It's nice seeing Rice catch a few balls too.
Scott K
I feel that we are saving the deep pass, for teams we actually will need it on, and we will surprise them. At least I hope so.

Brett, broke the Vikes passing percentage record in a game. He was 23 for 27 for a 85.2% completions.
JeffB
I'm excited to watch the vikes for the first time in a few years. I hope everyone stays healthy so the fun can continue.

harvey lee
I do believe you will see the Vikes go deep in time. I don't believe Chili has it planned in his gane plan at this time. When Farve and the entire offense is comfortable working together and they get their timing down much better then you MAY see a deep threat.Farve was not in camp nearly at all and these first two games are his camp in regards to him and the team getting to know whats up. Thanks. Ahhhh 4WE, trolling intentionally is forbidden on FM/HSO, with the exception of the football forum The post was not intended at all for trolling, it may seem that way with my pre season rants of our starting QB, but now the season is on, he is the starting QB for my team, you won't hear me calling for his head, unless it is truly needed. The intention of the post was to talk about the game, as no one seemed interested in the game, and I was just stating that Favre hasn't made many deep passes, and was stating that almost any QB could make those 5 yard passes that he has made this year. I guess my expectations of Favre were just to high. He has been very accurate, he has scored when needed, I was just wondering, where the long ball is, and why we haven't seen much of it? solbes
Chili is not going to show all of his tricks yet. We've played Cleveland and Detroit. Shouldn't need a lot of deep balls and long routes to beat those teams. I like the way we've won using our stud horse. He should setup the pass for future games against some tougher opponents. A little play action would be nice wouldn't it? I don't recall too many of those so far. I would expect the playbook to expand some this week, and then again against GB. Assuming the pass protection improves. Which so far has been pretty poor.
Born2Fish
I think the Vikings are doing what they should be doing. Use the run against teams that can not stop it, get Favre in rhythm with his wide receivers, and wait for the teams we NEED to pass against. And we still have not seen this "wildcat" that we heard so much about in the off/preseason. I do think the Vikings have played down to their competition, but only in an attempt to not show too much to our "real" competition.
zepman
Agree. Why put plays on film when you can beat two bottom feeders with the most basic plays. I think we'll see the Vikes ramp it up a little this week against a very much improved 49'ers team. Vikes have played good...it's not easy to win on the road in the NFL and in years past, we may have won these games, but it would have been much more of a struggle to do so. Should be a really good game this Sunday.
PierBridge
You make good points 4wand along with Harvey. Yes we would be 2-0 with T-Jack, Sage or even you for that matter at QB at this point. We're just hoping Favre can win 2 more games than thre 1 game he'll lose for us with a net profit of one win on the season over our back-up T-Jack!That can make the difference!
