Is someone putting something in the water in central north america? 61" muskie, and a pair of world record trout (check the trout forum) all in the past 2 weeks? Maybe I should spend 16 hours a day on the water from now to first ice.

Edit: I also forgot a would be WI state record sturgeon (foul hooked and on no sturgeon fishing lake)...

How was the sturgeon caught illegally?

The guy was walleye fishing, not sturgeon fishing.

beautiful. absolutly beautiful. my favorite is the part about 'turn the head, turn the head''. i had an experience similar on the St. Lawrance so maybe that's why i understood it enough to get a good laugh (thanks BTW). had her twice, lost her twice. easy 57'' maybe more. fat as a cow and a head like a horse. the first time i maybe had her on for ten minutes or so. she did what she wanted when she wanted. i was pretty much just there to observe. second time was just a head shake at the surface and gone. but i know i'll never forget it. and she'll be there next time. nice job on the land man. awsome.

Haven't heard location yet but leaning very heavily on Rainy Lake, and yes I get it, the Ontario side. I know some people who hit RedGut Bay each year and know there is some pretty decent water on that side. And likely the possibility to grow a fish like that in relative obscurity on the Canadian side. You can tell its not that large of a boat, probably took a little "local trip" and the guy is wearing a Rainy Lake sweatshirt or whatever.

The article states the angler took a trip to "trout water"....I think it's pretty obvious on what lake system this was caught on, and I also don't think you will have anything to worry about in terms of pressure for this body of water and it's connecting lake(s)

Great fish, a thick bodied mean looking mother.

If that fish is 61 inches then I am 8 feet tall. I could barely sleep for 5 days waiting to see this 61 inch fish. It is pretty obvious now why Musky Hunter magazine hasnt done anything with the story or pics.

Once again, great fish, congrats, but not cool man. Not cool.

UB - what's not cool is you questioning someone else fish, like you are the authority, the almighty internet fish length master.

You weren't there, how could you possibly have any idea what the size of this fish is. Leave the angler alone and let him enjoy the catch of a lifetime without being called a liar.

Just leave it alone, question people fish privately not on a public forum.

Why does everyone get so bent out of shape when someone questions the length of a fish??

When you go out and show to everybody a fish that you claim is 61", and hype it up like they did than you should expect comments about said fish.

Tell you what, I've heard way more comments about that fish not being 61" than people that agree it is.

The photo tells a lot if you know where to look.

I'll say it, doesn't look like a 60" fish to me.

Just my opinion.

What is not cool is your behavior in this thread.

Leave it up to Rum River Rat to call someone out on thread behavior.... That's funny, why don't you go back to your past post in multiple treads and then get back to me.

The magnitude of a 61 inch fish is tremendous, tough to comprehend, and very important to the sport of muskie fishing.

I guess I apologize for my opinion.

Hi:

Just to clarify because there's lots of rumors and misinformation regarding this fish and Musky Hunter's involvement. We did not buy the rights to the story. Our policy is we do not buy rights to any big fish stories.

Garrett first contacted Musky Hunter about a week and a half ago to tell us he caught a big fish. For a variety of reasons, I wasn't able to interview him until a couple days ago. The one photo that appears on our site is the best of the three that were sent to us.

It's a big fish, and Garrett and Josh are ecstatic. Is it a world record? No, but it's a very nice fish and the two anglers should be congratulated for the catch and for the release.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
