Gardy

This week has been a struggle and I don't usually gripe much about Gardy. But this week has been terrible in many ways!!

Hypothetical, say Gardy is coachin for the Chisox during Buehrle's perfect game. Does Gardy make the defensive adjustment? No, and thats the little things that Gardy is missing.

Also, I am tired of the shot in the dugout of Gardy chewing seeds. AHHHHHHHHHHHH

I was waiting for one of these.

Kind of ironic how Ozzie's move saved the no-hitter after all the WHINING the Chi-Sox fans have been doing when he does do the late inning switches for defense which is quite often.

Yeah Gardy should bring in Delmon for late inning defensive heroics. LOL

On a serious note and this may not wash in in here, Gardy is the equal of any manager in the game when it comes to the little things you speak of. And he does it quite often if you've been watching.

And in fairness to Gardy it's not like he has the deepest bench in League with way we run things around here..

Hope this clears things up for you Fish... grin

on a side note did anybody here the clip from just before the All Star Break where they asked Gardy what he was going to do on the break... He said tongue in cheek he was going fishing but would have the Cell phone close by in case the Twins made a big trade while he was Fishing.. grin

CLASSIC and a Great manger too boot!

Like I said, I don't fault Gardy that often. Perfect example would be having Kubel out there late in the game with a big lead. When eh-hem some of the younger guys are starving for PT and Ab's if needed.

Some of his pitching changes have always left me scatching my head.

We have one of the worst benches in baseball. When it comes down to it, we've got nothin. To compare Gardy's bench moves with any other mangager is being hard on gardy.

He makes the best with what he has, and I would rather have him in my dugout than just about anybody. He makes the best of what he has. Right now, he has a few good players and a lot of fill ins. Lets see....

No middle infield... Big questions about 3rd base..... Two Terrible outfielders.... No decent pinch hitters.... no defensive replacements.... and No one in AAA or AA that are worth bringing up better than what we have.

But he said on one of his shows, that he ended up dropping the phone in the lake, so it ended up worthless and didn't work anyway. shockedgrin

I like Gardy. I know he might do a few questionable things at times, but I bet if you asked him in person why chose what he did he would have good reasoning. You have to like Gardy better than Tom Kelly?

there are things that can be questioned, but you'll get that with every mgr. these guys know the players and what they can do better than we do so guess we have to trust them even though at times it sure doesn't seem like the right thing and sometimes the results aren't good. I think he does an okay job given the players that the owners give him to work with. I'm sure there are other mgrs much better than gardy but many that are worse too.

he might be out of a job by now if he managed another team with higher expectations from ownership and the fans but then again, getting fired from the yankees doesn't necessarily mean a mgr isn't any good.

I like Gardy alot and hope he stays with the Twins as long as he wants. Can't imagine anyone else but him on the bench...just wouldn't feel right. I can live with the decisions he makes good or bad...seems like he's made more good through the years though.

Coaches are like politicians and bosses at work.

They take too much blame for when things go wrong and get too much credit when things are going great. They have a hand in it, but it is still a TEAM effort, just alot easier to toss it all one one person's head.

Gardy is doing what he can with what he has.

Why Jesse (Train Wreck) Crain made it back to the majors, I have no idea, look at our middle infield, both batting around .200 if that, and our center fielder Gomez good as a defensive player, but needs to learn the strike zone.

Strength is up the middle and we succeed in 1 of 4 positions.

None of these issues are all Gardy's, yes he needs to coach them, but some of these guys are just not the talent we need to compete with Boston, New York, LA, Detroit.

One of the big differences between Gardy and Kelly is their GMs. Smiths either made bad trades, bad moves or done nothing. McPhail looking back made some great moves. BUT- it all doesn't rest on the GM. He does some late inning stuff, pitching moves to be exact that make me wonder. How many times, over the past couple years, have the Twins gone into the 8th with a 2-3 run lead, and the bullpen blows it? I have always said they need to put Nathan in for 1 and 2/3, 1 and 1/3 of an inning. Why does he only have to be the 9th inning guy? When the lead starts to slip he needs to put him in. I have seen him put in different pitchers and totally lose the game.
