Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Hunted the last weekend of the WI early goose for my first goose hunt. Have hunted ducks for a few years now but never chased the honkers. Was slow, got out for only an hour or so saturday before the rain finally got to us.

Sunday we hunted a cut sweet corn field, in the rain again and saw quite a few flocks. Between he 3 of us we only shot 3 birds, but shot poorly on the few flocks we had come in, and should have had more. Managed one myself, which amazingly being my first goose and the only I shot that day, was a banded one. That made up for my poor shooting.

Kind of hard to see but I'm holding the banded leg up with my right hand.

I posted this already but here is my new pups pics with the geese I got last Friday. DSCF1461.jpgFirst few came in honking then after about 9 they all were silent. Got one that landed in the dekes without even knowing he was there till I heard the splashdown. I got the last 3 out of silent group of three that wanted nothing more then to land in the dekes. They never left the dekes...lol My pup is 9 months old and is a great dog and a pleasure to have in the boat. Hope she is going to be pointing pheasants in a few weeks...crossing my fingers! Good Luck all!

My buddy's first time hunting and my first goose hunt ever - got a cheap goose call and a couple decoys and managed to call in a bunch! Lots of fun. Shot 4, should have limited out but he'd only shot a gun once before and I was rusty. Got him hooked though, and it was a barrel of fun!

Here are a few...

Wasn't here for this hunt, but I thought it was pretty neat as the geese still wanted in!

It's a 20 ft trailer. it's not mine, so I can't take the credit. We have a bungi (sp) cord that we run the entire length of the trailer behind the heads of the decoys. It holds the heads agains the wall. We have all of our feeders in bags. This works great cuz we can pull the 4 wheeler and utility trailer up between the dekes.

Also, I will post pics of the outside of the trailer, not done yet, but it WILL look sweet!

    • any idea what finished weight is on that thing looks really light. I bet in the right conditions you could almost pull it out by hand. Look great BTW!
    • any reports from the weekend? Looked like the rain moved out before noon on Saturday but was windy both days. I never do well in wind but from people I talked to looks like a lot people at least shot some birds. I don't know how numbers were looking compared to previous years and I am sure its hard to say for sure with all the corn in.  So lets here some reports? Where did you hunt? Public or private land? How many birds did you get and see?
    • The ladder is connected to a "J" hook design, I can remove it and store it on the bunk in about 7 seconds.
    • I love a good steak. But the smoker is great and I enjoy doing it. This weekend I had a bunch of things to get done around the house inside and out. Why not throw something on the smoker?  For the most part is was set it and forget it and took very little time or effort. I bought it at the store. Opened and rinsed. Rubbed with montreal steak season and wrapped it back up and let it sit in the fridge. Same thing I would do with a steak. My kids woke me up at 6am saturday. So I removed it from the fridge and let it come to room temp. Put it on the smoker at 7am and didnt touch or look at it until noon. Then I wrapped it in foil and let it go for a few more hours. Pulled it at 200 and put it in the cooler. I am willing to wager the amount of work to season a steak, and stand over a grill to watch for flare ups, let it rest and wrap in foil is virtually no less  or more work than a grilling a steak. And I am not going to find any good cut of steak for $4.50 a lb thats for sure..... You can get chicken wings for $2.25 a lb? Breasts typically run around $3 a lb unless you get it on sale. Its rare but you can get whole fryers for $1.50 but getting hard to find and I aint eating wings off one of those lol
    • yes almost too tender to slice and my family loved it. Can't wait to smoke another
    • Have you thought of hinging the top of the ladder and adding a bracket or even just a bungie on the ceiling so you can just slide it up out of the way when the kids aren't with?
    • Anyone have one?  I do not currently own an underwater cam but am in the market.  Pros and cons would be appreciated!
    • Then again by the time you factor in decoys, calls, shotguns, shells, has, license etc the goose was about $875 a pound. Fair enough, I guess you can call anything gourmet and get by with it.
    • I think my buddy is selling his VS825SD if your interested shoot me a PM.
