finnbay
Well, eight days of work and perserverence finally paid off this morning. I was able to get into position with my buddy and get over 350 usable images of a male grouse, preparing, drumming and displaying on a classic log. Whew! Enjoy! "Ya want me to do it again? Went out after lunch to see if my buddy was back, and he was. This morning pix were with my Canon 50D and 100-400mm f/5.6. Still a bit dark. I brought my Mark II and 300 f/2.8 to see how much difference there would be and here are the results - you decide. The light was better and I was able to shoot at 800 ISO this afternoon vs. ISO 1600 this morning.

Birdsong
Congratulations! I had no idea they had the beautiful blue until this spring and this forum. These are perfect. Did the two of you discuss the choice of log ahead of time? Might as well go for the good looking log if you are going to be that persistent. Paul
They all look good to me. The stomping grounds around here are under water, and I have not been able to locate their new locations yet due to all the darn road blocks and bridge washouts.
