critterman
how about tory holt just read he may be released or traded!
zamboni
Isn't he older than Jerry Rice??? No, seriously. Ok, a little fabrication on my end, but I wouldn't want him here, his best days are in his rear view mirror.
nofishfisherman
I might give him a 1 year deal. We have young recievers so a little veteran leadership might be good. I wouldn't hand him the keys to the stadium or anything but a 1 year deal at a fair price might not be the worst thing.I just wouldn't expect 90 catches and 15 TD's from him. A good year for him would probably be more like 40-50 catches and 6-7 TD's.
walleyes12
what could it hurt?
Jim Uran
yeah it sure couldn't hurt. As long as they don't break the bank on an old man. I just thought of something, I'm 30 and he probably isn't that much older than me. HAHA
FISHINGURU
i'd take holt in a heartbeat...good blocker, great hands, great guy...he'd compliment berrian pretty nicely....could probably land him for a reasonable price also.

FISHINGURU
more catches and a 10 td season wouldn't be out of the question though...its easy to rack up 40-50 catches if the qb starts relying on your hands...the best part about it is holt wouldn't be the focus point for opposing D's. nofishfisherman
10 TD's might be pushing it, I looked at his states and he has had a ton of catches over the years but he's only averaged about 7 TD's a season and has only gone 10-12 a twice maybe. Even with how bad the Rams were last season he still have 64 catches but only 3 TD's. I would actually take that with our offense. He doesn't need to be the scoring threat like he use to be.I think we need a possession type reciever and he may fit that need.
FISHINGURU
might be pushing it but it might not...people thought randy was a washed up bum in oakland and he came back to score 23 td's after a 3 td season on a new team.not a very good comparison i know considering he had one of the best qb's in the game...but my main point is just cause a player has a off year doesn't mean they are washed up...fresh starts can put a top wr back on track.holts a hall of fame reciever...he's healthy and reliable...even if he put up berrian type numbers it would be a great addition.check out his catches, yards per year and how reliable he's been.http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/4654click on career stats when u get there...the career stat link wouldn't work. Jim Uran
No doubt about his production, he's a SOLID wide out and we could use him. Just don't break the bank like I said earlier.
FISHINGURU
forsure....i think you could snag him for a pretty reasonable price....i'd rather see a 2-3 yr deal personally instead of 1.
nofishfisherman
I guess it doesn't matter how many years you give him since you can cut him at any time. A team could give him a 15 year deal but still cut him after year 1 without paying out the rest of his contract.
Jim Uran
That's why you see so many contracts with guarenteed money on them now days.
FISHINGURU
YUP..thats exactly it...the player is only guarenteed his guarenteed money....even haynesworths giant 100 million contract he's only guarenteed 41 million...which is alot.so as long as a guy like holts contract isn't alot of guarenteed money it would be alright to just cut him...it would suck to sign him to a 1 year deal and he lights it up then wants alot more to re-sign or leave somewhere else....atleast a 2-3 yr deal would more then likely be at the end of his career. archerystud
He was a great receiver who is on his way down. I'm pretty sure he's been playing on bad knee or two each of the last two years.Although he might be available cheap based on that.
SledNeck
Holt is probably one of the top route runners in the history of the NFL.
Jim Uran
So is that other old guy that's still out there, Marvin Harrison. If we got them both it would be like the OLD duo of Brown and Rice on the Raiders. HAHA. Two Future HOF's.
FISHINGURU
yup marvelous marv is still out there too...i don't see why the vikes don't want some of the greatest hands and route runners in the game...sure they lost a step but we aren't asking them to come in and be a lights out #1 player....holt or marv could consistantly move the chains for our team.everything is so simplified when you have the best rb in the league behind the qb...god knows our qb's need some more targets.
