Is it Summer Yet?

Is it summer yet? I don't even want to wait for spring, I want to wake up and have summer here. I want to hear the chirping of birds through the open window and sun light coming through at five in the morning. I don't want to have to search for my slippers because the floor is cold underfoot. I don't want to hear the sound of the furnace fan blowing. I want to see a cold fireplace but feel warm in my boxer shorts. Instead of grabbing hot coffee I want to grab some ice cold lemonade and hear the cubes clink in the glass as I and walk out on to a snow free deck in my bare feet. I want to see the old goose strutting on the end of the dock and hear the sound of Buds claws as he runs across the deck heading for the yard and the goose. I want to walk down to the dock and feel damp grass between my toes. To get chewed out by one of the gray squirrels and to see a bunny frozen behind the flag pole. Acting like a lawn ornament the rabbit thinking that a skinny pole actually hides all of him or her behind it.

I want to look into ice free water at green lily pads bobbing, the flowers open and a water bug running across the surface. I want to see the tell tale little rings of blue gills slurping bugs off the surface. The vee wake of a muskrat on the surface. Hear the splash of a bass deep back in the reeds. The sound that comes across the water when an oar hits the side of an aluminum boat. Crows flying out from the roost overhead to where ever it is they go at five in the morning. Yup, I am ready for summer. Winter has had its time, bring on summer. Bring on bonfires and marsh mellows. Bring on lady bugs and lightning bugs and bats in the twilight. The lonely call of a loon echoing in the night. Fish fries and kids making bubbles. Rain and the smells that come with it. Burger baskets and onion rings hanging on trays on the sides of pickups. Fresh cut grass and a fawn running behind its mother. Pontoon boats making lazy circles around the bay. The quiet of a jet ski running out of gas.

Summer, gardens and dragon flies. Dusty roads and high school car washes. Tug of wars between robins and night crawlers. Sitting on the end of the dock with your feet in the water and not a care in the world. Baseball and hot dogs. The ten o'clock freight train making it way around the far side of the lake. Vacation.. Red and white bobbers slowing going out of sight beneath the water. Eagles soaring over head, puppies running on new grass chasing butterflies. Ice cream cones dripping, potato salad eating and watermelon seed spitting. Bees buzzing and humming birds hovering. Naps on hammocks and just plain doing nothing. Yes, I am ready for Summer!

I love open water fishing, but I'm still hoping for a few more good ice fishing outing before the season is done.

Sucky part is you have to wait for that month+ or so between the end of safe ice and when the water is completely open to put the boat out. Luckly I have a brother that loves to put in on the River. Only way to really get out between the two fishing seasons. smile

LOL laugh

Whats the problem Bobby? Did ya get yourself into some trouble in shanty town?

I hear ya. I'm looking forward for that first afternoon of sitting in the back yard basking in the warm sun like a turtle on a log.

All good things come to those whom wait.

Before you know it we will be scoop'n up doggie-do-do from the yard, taking down winter worn X-mass lights, stomp'n sod chunks back into scars in the yard caused by snow removal gone bad, plant'n Taters, and complaining about hungry skeetr's.

It's all good my friend.

smile

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
