Summer semester is all but over so i went shore fishing. No, not hooky.

When I got to the fishing area I ran into a guy who makes his own Bass lures (spinnerbaits) and did fish a lot of Bass tournaments. Well to make a long story short, watching him throw spinners until the cows came home and only catching small Northers and Bowfin I thought I would try for some Bass. I checked the trunk of my car and Bingo I had my flukes with me. I went back to where he was and told him I have caught more Bass over 20" with Flukes then all my other Bass lures combined, But like most Bass tournament fisherman he though I was silly to think a Fluke could out fish his tried and true Spinnerbaits. Will 5 Bass later I landed this 19" Bass and this lake is not known to be a Bass lake.

So. Everyone and his brother throw spinnerbaits and i do think the Bass have seen them before. Throw a change up.

It is a make shift setup I used. A burner reel (7:1) and fluorocarbon line. Not what I would call the optimum setup for fishing Flukes.

Nice fish Purplecatman and Craigums! Are you guys brothers? When I first glanced thru I thought they were both Craigums fish!

I made it out Sat morning and had a decent few hrs. Picked up 10 bass between 17in and 19.99in(20in if I wiggled it right). One of the 19's was sure a beat up ole lookin bass! Tail was all wore off yet. I got all on a North Star flip/swim jig in about 10-11ft of water around a small submerged hump with grass.

Fish that my son caught on Friday.

I set the hook and held the rod while he reeled them in.

Sucker Minnows on a quick strike rig under a bobber, was hoping to catch Pike, the Bass would not let that happen.

Was a great time my son cannot wait to go again.

He was not to excited about touching the fish or getting his picture taken.

SMalliehunter, you should move your pose up to that last storage box on your back deck. Give some more detail to the fish and you in those pictures, and less background. Scenery is nice and all, but the fish are more interesting in these cases!

Smalliehunter, what's the length on those fish they look way bigger than fish just over 5 lbs. I see that Rapala culling scale on your deck. I have the same one, love it, its an awesome system but I feel they read on the light side. check it against some known weights, you could probably add a 4-8 oz to the weight it shows on a 5 lber. At least with thats what my friend's and myself have found.
