Doubley nice apparently!

I apparently found a very tight school of smallmouth last night that were VERY hungry from about 9:45 to 10:00. I really wish I had brought some bass gear out with me because the fish were crazy. I hooked up with 3 but only 1 of those made it to the boat. The first few casts I kept thinking I was bumping rocks, but it turns out I was getting blasted by some smallmouth, probably just attacking the flash from the blades.

Got hit on 7 or more consecutive casts and then over and over after that- it was wild.

here's the one that made it to the boat-

The bait was literally longer than the fish.

And the trebles on that bait were bigger than that fish's mouth, which explains my terrible hooking percentage. Pretty weird 15 minute window.

I've had that happen with largemouth on the river once. For probably 30-40 minutes if you made a cast to this one spot about 5' wide with a bush laying next to it, you'd catch a fish between 10"-14". It was pretty unbeleivable about the time we got to our 40th fish or so. Eventually we said enough of these small ones, but it was a darn good time while it lasted, and this was when I was very much a beginner to fishing up here after having just moved to Minneapolis.

Its funny, after hitting such a frenzy of fish like that in one spot... I always have the habit of casting a couple times to the same spot when I'm there again. I don't think I've ever caught a fish on that spot again, but then again the river is always changing so who knows what held them there in the first place.
